Full Moon Lovers: Chapter 3

“I smell the same female from earlier…and she’s alone this time,” the voice growled as he smirked.
Akira ran to the trees she once heard Hongbin’s voice from and looked around for any sign of him. She needed someone to talk to about Fujigaya and her parents’ decision to marry her to him. She knew how much she’d despise her husband and she didn’t want a marriage like that. He may have had good intentions but she could care less as she felt her freedom quickly slipping from her fingers.
“Hongbin? Are you there? I need to talk to you,” she called out for him only to get no response.
She waited a moment before she stopped when she heard a twig snap nearby. She turned around quickly with wide eyes as she was pushed back against the tree roughly. Her head hit the tree hard causing her to clench her eyes shut from the pain before she managed to open one. Standing before her was two men she had never seen before as they towered over her with devilish grins on their faces.
“Wow she’s quite the looker! We really lucked out this time right Tao?” the blonde motioned to the dark haired man standing beside him.
“The guys are going to be happy with us. You did a good job smelling her out Kris,” he complimented his friend as he patted him on the shoulder.
As Akira got a better look at the two of them she was reminded of royalty. They were like a pair of princes, one being light and the other dark. They had long limbs and looked fast and agile in their plain clothes that looked like the ones in her village. They were also quite tall and both had golden eyes that really stuck out.
“What are you looking at female? Have you never seen guys as good looking as us?” Tao joked as he hovered closer to her, placing his arm above her head and keeping her trapped between the tree and himself.
“You…you’re not human are you?” was the first thing she asked as she stared him straight in the eyes.
Tao smirked before backing off and leaning on Kris, “What a smart girl we have. Didn’t you humans have tales about us? At least that’s what those men told us…before we devoured them.”
Akira felt a chill run down her spine as she watched him lick his lips, sharp teeth peeking between them. Kris shook his head before pushing his friend jokingly away.
“Come on don’t scare her too much, we want the goods to be in perfect condition when we deliver it,” he advised his friend before grabbing Akira’s arm.
She knew she had to do something to get away and so the first thing she did was bite down hard on Kris to try to get him to let go. He yelped, letting go, and giving Akira just enough time to take off in the opposite direction of these two. She tried to run as fast as she could but she didn’t get far before she was tackled to the ground. When she looked up she stared straight into the face of a golden wolf as it growled and bared its fangs in her face. She wanted to scream but instead she covered her face as she feared it would tear her to shreds.
“Rethink your choices before it gets you killed,” she heard Kris warn her.
She uncovered her face and saw the wolf was gone but now she lay beneath the blonde prince. He pulled her up with him, holding onto her tightly as if to remind her that she couldn’t run away. Tao followed closely to her other side as the two dragged her off further into the forest. She looked back once as she saw the village disappear, her heart sinking as she wondered what her fate would be.
The trio walked for quite a bit before they came to a clearing with a large mound in the middle of it. Kris and Tao leaned back and let out a couple howls before waiting. Akira hid slightly behind Kris as she waited for what the two had called. It didn’t take long before wolves came running out of the mound towards them. She couldn’t believe her eyes as they came closer, turning into men right before her eyes.
“You guys are back! What’s that behind your back?!” a smaller mousy looking young man asked as he approached first.
“Xuimin, use your nose and you’ll be able to tell what we have. Run to the leader and tell him of our return and that we have something for him,” Kris instructed him.
Xuimin nodded his head before taking off back to the mound. Other wolves came up to them, sniffing the air around them as Akira hid in Kris’ back.
“A female?” one questioned with a tilt of his head.
“Female?!” another blurted out with wide eyes.
“I want to see her!” a very happy one exclaimed as he tried to get around Kris to see Akira.
“Chanyeol, you curious pup, give her some space. We don’t want to stress her out too much,” Kris jokingly warned the younger wolf.
“I wish I was able to go out hunting with you guys. Even though I’m older than Tao you still bring him along with you,” Chanyeol whined.
“It’s because I’m more skilled than you,” Tao retorted back.
Chanyeol smiled big, showing off his teeth to Tao almost as if warning him. Kris shook his head again as the younger ones always seemed to give him headaches about something.
“D.O and Tao are around the same age but you don’t see D.O complaining,” another brought up with a smile on his face.
“That’s because it’s too scary out there, I’m not as strong as some of you guys. I’m smaller like Chen, Luhan and Xiumin, we’re not built for hunting,” D.O spoke up “Though, Kai, you and Sehun are the youngest in our pack and I think you guys would make good hunters when you’re old enough.”
“Thanks!” Kai smiled again.
Akira peeked around Kris to see more wolves coming their way before it looked like she was surrounded by many guys.
“The others aren’t back from their hunting yet. What did you two find that you had to show me right away?” a calmer more mature young man asked as he approached Kris and the others.
“Leader Suho we found a human female while on our hunting trip. I think she’d make the perfect mate for a leader like yourself. Come take a look for yourself,” Kris explained before pulling Akira out from behind him.
She wasn’t as intimidated when she saw that this man was closer to her own height and had a sweeter appearance. He looked like one of the kind older brothers from her village, but she had to remind herself that he was no human. He sniffed the air around her before circling, looking her up and down.
“You know she has a different male’s scent on her…a couple actually. One human and one wolf scent on her, doesn’t that strike as something unusual to you?” Suho addressed Kris.
“I figured she was a popular female to have both a human and wolf scent on her. She has quite the looks too so I knew she’d make a good female for our pack,” he explained to his leader.
“I see…for now let’s take her back to the den. I don’t want her scent attracting the male that marked her already. I’m sure he won’t be happy if he smells her in our camp,” Suho instructed them before extending a hand to Akira.
She looked at it for a moment before carefully putting her hand in his. He held her hand gently, as if treating her like she would break if he held onto her too tightly, a treatment that differed from her earlier escorts. She followed closely as they led her into the mound that they called their den. It was different than what she was expecting as the inside dipped down, going under the ground. When they finally reached the end of the path she saw what looked like makeshift beds. They weren’t like the ones in the village but they looked soft nonetheless.
“This is our den, it isn’t much but this is where we live and grow. This will also be your new home from now. You’ll be our female who’ll raise the young in our pack,” the leader explained to her.
“Raise young? But you don’t have any kids around here,” she questioned.
“Well we have one other female in our pack, Kyung Hee, but she hasn’t decided what male to make her partner. She’s also my little sister,” Suho explained before shyly admitting it was his sister.
“Your sister? Where is she?” Akira asked curiously.
“Kyung Hee was out with the other hunting pack. She’s always been fast and smart like myself so she makes a great leader in hunting trips. For now let’s get you comfortable, it must have been quite the shock to be drug here,” he answered before fumbling to wipe a spot on the bed for Akira to sit on.
She took a seat before looking at the wolf men surrounding her and looking at her with curiosity. Some looked more like wolves in their features whiles others reminded her of pups with their attitudes.
“What’s your name? I’m Chanyeol by the way!” the young man blurted out with an extended hand.
“Akira…” she answered with a wry smile.
“Akira? That’s a strange name. Wow you’re really pretty I bet your children will be so good looking! Especially if I’m the father!” he blurted out.
She couldn’t help but blush before quickly speaking up, “I refuse!”
Everyone looked at her in shock over her quick rejection before looking over at their leader. He met eyes with many of them before he sat beside her.
“Don’t mind him he’s still young and foolish. But you’ll have to get used to all these guys especially since you’ll be a part of our pack from now on. You’ll become my female as I’m the leader of this pack and you will have to give birth to new young. We need to add as many new wolves to our group if we want to grow in strength,” Suho explained to her.
“But I’m human and you’re a wolf, we can’t have children!” Akira pointed out.
“Don’t worry, it’s possible. Kris was born from a human mother and wolf father as well as a few others in our pack. If I had to say so myself those born from that pair are exceptionally good looking and have greater skills. You won’t regret having me as your mate I promise,” he answered her before taking her hand in his.
She looked into his eyes wondering if he was being real with her and nothing about seemed like a lie. Even though she had run away to get away from her arranged marriage she had only ran herself into another only this time her husband was going to be a complete stranger. She couldn’t believe what was going on and she couldn’t help but feel tears come to her eyes.
“Hongbin,” she pitifully cried before wiping the unending tears that ran down her cheeks.
Everyone began to freak out as they didn’t know how to calm her down. As they ran around trying to figure something out they stopped when they heard a familiar female voice.
“Which one of you idiots made the girl cry?!”
“Kyung Hee!” many shouted at the same time as they looked desperately between the crying woman and now the angry one.
Akira looked over to see a few more guys and the one named Kyung Hee standing at the entrance with fresh meat in hand. She looked at the young woman and noticed how she and her brother shared a sweet appearance but the harsh tone from the sister differed from her brother. She had dark short hair like her brother and golden eyes.
“I can’t believe I leave for a hunting trip and I come back to you guys making a poor human girl cry. What did you do, kidnap her straight from the village?” she shook her head as she approached Akira.
“I was just explaining what her role in our pack will be and then suddenly started crying for someone named Hongbin,” her brother tried to explain.
“Hongbin…how do you know about him?” Kyung Hee asked Akira with a serious tone before sniffing the air around her. “There’s the faintest scent of him on her, why is she here? Why did you bring HER here?!”
Everyone was taken aback by the sudden anger she displayed as she pointed at Akira with her fangs bared. Suho jumped in front of Akira with a serious look on his face as he flashed his teeth as well.
“Back down and calm yourself sister, I don’t want to have to put you in your place,” he warned her.
She looked at her brother straight in the eyes before slowly relaxing and snapping, “You guys are idiots! If we keep her they’ll find us! They’ll destroy our pack!”
Kris went over to her side and placed a hand on her shoulder but she just shook him off. She didn’t want to be messed with as she tried to calm herself down. She turned and took off out of the den followed by Kris and Tao who didn’t want her to be alone.
Suho let out a sigh before turning to Akira who asked “Why was she so mad about Hongbin and what other pack was she talking about?”
“It’s a long story…I’ll explain as much as I can,” he answered her before taking a seat next to her while the others took the cue and headed out of the den.
