LDSM: Chapter 6

Akira was lying in bed, looking up at the ceiling and thinking to herself. She knew that where she was at now was the best place for her. But now, things were getting too complicated for her. If only she had known before what would happen when she had left her family some time ago…

Akira was sitting on her knees in front of her parents as they had summoned her to talk.

“Akira, you’re father and I have decided to marry you off to one of our lower family’s sons. It will strengthen our bonds and you will be the mob wife for that family,” her mother explained to her with an unchanged face.

Akira held her head low as she felt like her entire world was falling apart. She knew that she was the only daughter they had left to marry off. Her eldest sister and brother had been married and her eldest brother was going to be the next boss of their own family. Akira was one of the middle children and she knew that one day she would be married off to a less important family and probably never return to her home.

“Akira…you know what is expected of you. With your position there is no way to give you a bright future, accept that this is the best offer we can give you. Are you going to accept this of your parents?” her father’s rough stone voice gently put it to her.

“I know this is all that you can give me…please give me some time to think about this. I will give you my answer as soon as possible honored mother and father,” Akira asked with no emotion in her voice before she got up and walked out.

She ran to her room, grabbing a small bag that she could carry with her and placed a few things in it before hiding it under her bed. Akira knew her parents knew that she wasn’t going to accept their offer. She wanted better and she knew she was going to have to get it herself. Later that night she heard a couple goons outside her door, guarding her so she wouldn’t run away. Akira cursed her parents for making this harder for her to leave, but she took her window, climbing out onto the tall tree branches. Instead of climbing down she climbed the tree further and made her way onto the roof.

Once on the roof she quietly made it over to the side closest to the walls that surrounded the house. When the coast looked clear she jumped as far as she could, landing on the wall before quickly dropping off it and into the alley. Then she ran as fast as she could with no real destination in mind, but she knew she had to get far enough away to where the goons couldn’t just come and pick her up and drag her back home. Then she ended up on the outskirts of another rival mob family’s territory. Akira knew if they found out who she was, then she would be killed point blank and have her dead corpse sent back to her family in a day. Of course Akira didn’t let that scare her, she was used to getting over fears, and wandered into the land of her enemies. She wandered aimlessly till she found the red light district.

Akira knew then and there that it was the perfect place to hide away, surely no one would dare look there for her especially in enemy territory…

“I thought it was going to work…what were the chances that the son would take a liking to me…and I would take a liking to him too…” Akira sighed as she rolled over onto her side.

She picked herself up and went to her dresser, taking out some money and putting it into her jean pocket. She walked out of the red light district and headed down to the flower shop to buy the normal flowers she would for Sho’s sister. She politely asked the flower shop lady for the usual and received a handful of lilies. Once they were in her arms she walked on, heading to the hospital where Mizumi was hospitalized. I wonder if that man is going to be there this time Akira wondered to herself as she arrived at the hospital.

She walked up the stairs and up to the room, knocking on the door before excusing herself and walking in. No one was around but Mizumi who laid silently in her bed like usual. Akira smiled at her before going over to the vase and exchanging the old lilies with the new and fresh ones.

“Ne, Mizumi-chan, you’re brother asked me to run away and marry him…I haven’t given him my answer yet though…” Akira spoke aloud.

Akira walked to the chair sitting by the bed and let out a sigh before continuing, “You’re brother is truly an interesting man. I know he doesn’t want to leave you alone in this world. If we left I know he’d always be thinking of you and wondering if your father pulled the plug on you or not. I’m envious of how much that man can talk about you.”

Akira chuckled before she heard a knock at the door and answered, “Hai?”

The door slid open and the man from before stepped in with a gentle smile on his face.

“Ah, it’s you, you’re back to visit her,” Ohno smiled at Akira as he slid the door shut.

Akira stood up and bowed slightly as she answered, “Yes, I came to visit her but since she has company I should probably take my leave.”

“Ah, don’t go. Please stick around,” Ohno persuaded her as he directed his hand for her to take her seat again.

Akira just nodded her head and nervously sat back down. She watched him place his own flowers by her own before grabbing another chair and sat on the other side of the bed. Akira was trying very hard to remember his name, but she felt herself thinking mostly how cute he was. He noticed how she stared and chuckled.

“Ah, I’m sorry, how rude of me for staring,” Akira apologized as she averted her eyes and stood up.

“Where are you going Akira-chan?” Ohno asked her in a smooth voice.

“I was just going to leave you so you can have some alone time with her,” Akira excused herself as she walked towards the door.

“Stop,” Ohno demanded her in a single powerful word that made Akira stop dead in her tracks.

Ohno silently got up and walked over to Akira, leaning down into her ear and whispered, “Come, let’s take a walk outside and talk.”

Akira felt like it was the devil himself offering her a deal as she silently nodded her head and walked out of the room with him. The two of them headed out of the hospital and walked out in the court yard where other patients were with their nurses enjoying the air. Ohno led them to a bench and the two of them sat down silently.

“Ano…Ohno-san wasn’t it?” Akira broke the silence with her question.

“Call me Satoshi-kun, Ohno-san is something my father is called,” Ohno chuckled as he turned to smile at her.

Akira felt her heart beat faster seeing his smile. She averted her eyes and thought to herself why she was acting this way with him. She didn’t feel like this whenever she was with Sho, this feeling in her heart felt different than the feeling she got when she was with Sho. Akira picked her gaze up again and looked into his beautiful dark eyes.

“Satoshi-kun, why did you bring me out here?” Akira asked.

Ohno tilted his head up and looked up at the sky as he answered, “I’m curious about you. You come to visit my Mizumi-chan and you bring her flowers on behalf of her brother…I wonder why you do that.”

Akira looked down at the ground as she fell silent for a minute before answering him, “Sho-kun…he was told to stop wasting money on his sister, but I know how much he wants to bring her flowers. So I use what money I make to bring her flowers in his stead. I want her to wake up one day and see that he brought flowers for her even if it wasn’t him directly.”

Ohno turned his head towards her and asked, “Why would you do that for him? What are you to him?”

Akira turned to face him and opened her mouth to tell him, but nothing came out before she heard a familiar voice call out her name. Akira and Ohno turned to look and saw Sho running over to them calling out Akira’s name. As he got closer Akira and Ohno noticed that the expression on his face wasn’t a pleasant one. Ohno got up quickly to put himself between Sho and Akira as he was worried if Sho was angry at Akira.

“Sho-kun what’s wrong?” Ohno asked as he got closer.

Sho pushed Ohno out of the way and grabbed Akira’s wrist and pulled her off the bench.

Akira flinched beneath him as he gripped both her wrists as they faced each other, “Itai! Sho-kun stop, it hurts!”

Ohno didn’t know what was going on but he tried to take Sho’s hand off of Akira as he snapped, “Sho! You’re hurting her!”

Sho gave Ohno an icy glare as he pushed him off and warned him bluntly, “Butt out!”

Akira glared up at Sho as she struggled slightly to get away from him, “Seriously what the fuck is wrong with you!”

Sho turned his attention back to Akira and replied sharply, “Why the fuck are you visiting my sister! And why are you out here with him?! Were you trying to trick him into being your customer?!”

Akira was shocked at his question as she angrily snapped back, “I was bringing her flowers for you with my own money! This is the first time I’ve even truly talked to him! Why do you even care?!”

“Sho-kun I was the one at fault! I asked her out here myself to talk to her!” Ohno tried to explain as he tried to intervene as he could feel the tension between the two of them and knew neither would back down.

“You’re mine! That’s why! Stop doing things behind my back!” Sho snapped as he ignored Ohno.

“Fuck you! I belong to nobody!” Akira snapped back without thinking as the inner mob in her let loose.

Akira tried to pull away again, but Sho’s grip tightened, making her cry out. Ohno tried to pull Sho off of her as she cried out, reminding Sho that they were out in public, but Sho’s eyes were clouded in anger. Sho pushed Ohno hard, making him fall to the ground as he dragged Akira away.

“Sho wait!” Ohno went after them as he feared for Akira’s life.

Once Ohno caught up to them Sho was almost to his car, the goon opening it up for them as Akira kicked and struggled as she demanded to be let go. Sho picked Akira up easily, causing her to scream as she was tossed into the back seat like a piece of luggage.

“Sho! Leave her be-!” Ohno yelled before he stopped when Sho pulled out his gun and pointed it right in Ohno’s face.

“If you don’t want to die I suggest you back the fuck away and let me deal with her as I please,” Sho coldly warned him.

Ohno was frozen as Sho put his gun away and got into the car, driving away back to the red light district…
