Stricken

Mar 22, 2008 15:05

It's easy to criticize the 21 March LJ strike. It probably should have been longer, for one, and the holiday weekend maybe wasn't the best choice. And I get that not everyone believes in strikes the way I do, or, more accurately, has my aversion to crossing picket lines (even virtual ones).

BUT. The people who complained loudly and bitterly about others people's decision to observe it. The people who posted solely for the purpose of thwarting the strike (with no other discernible content). The people who point out that there are more important things in the world to worry about (duh! You're in fandom and you just now realize this?). The people who think that you shouldn't complain about something that you [can] get for free, even if the company is still making money off of you. These people are silly and deserve raspberries—and not the fruity kind.

Personally, I think the winds of LJ are blowing in an ominous direction and have taken on a distinctly unpleasant odor. And I support registering some protest, even a token one, to these new developments.
