This morning I did a shamanic journey to find help for dealing with all of this anxiety and stress. The answers I received showed me that this is something I have to learn how to handle. Journeying is something that you do to visit the spirit worlds. There are 3. A lower world where you usually talk with your animal spirits. An upper world where you usually talk to your spirit teachers. And the middle world where you can commune with the spirits of nature.
To journey you need to listen to a repetitive beat, like drumming or a rattle. You start off with a quick beat and work your rhythm to a slow one. It's supposed to be monotonous. The beat of the drum or rattle will put you in a trance state.
It was always suggest to me that for a person's first journey you should go to the underworld. When I did that I met both my animal spirit and my spirit teacher.
While drumming think about an area you know of that has a natural opening in the ground. It can be a hole or a cave or a well or anything like that. Travel down into the hole and through a tunnel (for me it's a tunnel, for others it could be something else like a shaft or whatnot).
After you leave the tunnel you'll find yourself in an area. For me this is a cliff with a giant waterfall. Down at the bottom there is a lagoon and a forest off on the shore. I go down their either by jumping into the water or walking down steps on the side. For you the area outside of the tunnel may be different.
When you find a spirit ask if they're your guide. Then you can talk to them about matters you're experiencing.
