Summer Goals

So, because my New Year Resolutions have been horribly broken, I have decided to make some "summer goals." I read it on someone else's blog, and thought it was a great idea - it's a short enough time frame that I won't feel overwhelmed, and long enough that I can probably get most of these done. So in the interest of accountability, in no particular order, here are some (most) of my goals

1) Get the house cleaned up to the point I won't be embarrassed to have people over. That means lots of decluttering, recycling and donations. I'm not Hoarders worthy, but adding depression with an natural slob-ish nature means my place is horrible looking. I've already "cleaned" the worse of the house - my room - but it hasn't actually been properly dealt with. I mainly just threw things into bins and put them into the guest room. It's around 85% done right now, and I'm hoping to finish this weekend. Next up is the kitchen.

2) Figure out a exercise (and diet) plan that I can & will actually stick to. I usually get all gung-ho for a week or two, then I get off plan and it all goes to hell. The other side of this is that I need to figure out a way to deal with going off plan other than having a fatalistic freak out.

3) Finish a few of my smaller cross-stitch WIPs. I have something like 20 works-in-progress right now, and I desperately need to finish them. I have a few I've been working on for 10+ years. It's pathetic. There are a few smaller ones that I'm hoping to finish, which will give me the momentum to finish a couple of the bigger ones by the years end. Ideally, by January, I'd like to be down to half. We'll see if that happens.

4) Read more! I have an entire bookshelf of books I have yet to read - and to people who knew me pre-breakdown, that is an incredibly odd sight. I used to read at least 3-4 books a week, and sometimes I'd read that a *day.*  After two years of going to the library book fair up here, I have a huge pile of books that I need to wade through. Some I need to read and give back to my parents. I'm hoping that by the summer's end, I'll have read at least one shelf of that bookcase.

I have some subsections of those goals - such as going through all my school work from the past :mumble: years, but that is grouped in with goal 1. I'd also like to make time for other things such as math and language work, and music, but only if they don't interfere with the above goals.

I also have at least one trip to work around - my best friend and I are going to Maui with my mom in celebration of her getting her PhD. I'm hoping to have gotten a good start on those goals by then, and I can bring a book or two to read on the plane trip over to help with goal 4. And while I have a couple of more goals in mind, those are more personal and may not be achievable in a couple of months, so I'm not listing them unless and until they are accomplished.
