[Geekery] Well, this is...unexpected

I was going to post Christmas photos today, and I just need to get to the upload and HTML part, but I happened to wander over to the Allspark forums and meandered through the Secret Santa threads (I forgot to sign up this year), and I noticed that a lot of people had My Little Pony avatar icons, yet clearly from a new source -- I also forgot we got a new MLP show with the new Hasbro network. I started looking around for the source of this avatar meme, and found the MLP thread in the general forum. Curiosity got to me, so I watched the video link of the first half of the first episode. It was...pretty darn good. I read more of the thread, and, enticed by the positive comments of others, sought out the rest of the episode. Then I watched the second episode, and the next..... Seven episodes later, ummmmm.....

I like My Little Ponies: Friendship is Magic more than Transformers: Prime.

It might be the PowerPuff Girls influence, the smooth animation style, the fun and expressive characters, the random singing.....and the number of male TF fans admitting they like the show, that make it enjoyable. Sure, it's got a Moral Of The Day, and there is plenty of girliness and the color pink. But, y'know what? I'll take that over the depressing, continuity-muddled, catch-phrase ridden TF: Prime. I've had enough of darker and edgier cartoons. I don't mind some multi-colored singing ponies. Especially Pinkie Pie. She's a wonderful brand of insane. For a Pony. %D

But I'm not going to start collecting MLPs. :P I do still have my old ones from when I was a kid, somewhere.

geekery, mlp
