TV Rots Your Brain and a Work Rant

Okay, no it doesn't. But I didn't really need to find the channel that shows a bunch of crime dramas in a row. CSI: Las Vegas, Law & Order: SVU and Law & Order: CI two nights in a row now, and I'll be tuning in again for a while this evening. Although I've already watched two eps I've seen before. :P

I started over on my State Fair project. I didn't like how the first one was turning out, too many miscounted stitches that would have bit me in the end. So I re-cut the photo and with a good deal of assistance from straya in printing it the way I wanted it on the graph paper, I'm now stumbling my way over the new version. I did ten rows of stitches last night before finding that I had miscounted, so I pulled them out and redid it. If I keep that up, I'll never have this thing finished in time. :P But I'm going to try to dedicate every waking hour to it, aside from breaks for Left 4 Dead and scribbling fic (Naturally, I have the urge to write when I have other deadlines to meet).

In other news, work is stressing me out. The company implemented a new stock procedure and we're the test store. And....it's a horrible system. We're still bogged down with clearance, so we don't have the room for the new items coming in that are supposed to go out on a certain day. So, the new items get backstocked, and I'm unclear on when they will be worked to the floor. :\ Apparently I'm supposed to handle replenishment of what is out already, but I'm supposed to scan everything I put out, and...they took away all our scanners.

So, while my department has about a dozen people wandering around half the day trying to put out merchandise, I tend to get into a tizzy trying to keep track of it all (even though I'm not supposed to be involved in this stock procedure at all), and then after they have finished I have no choice but to comb over everything because things inevitable get put in the wrong place -- because not all of that team was involved in putting the merchandise to the floor before, so they don't always know what exact item they're putting on a rack, they just see a number attached to the rack. So, I had things like regular size boys clothes on the display with the clearance toddler boys clothes. @_@

I don't blame the stock team. I blame whichever idiot VIP came up with this. Apparently they've never heard the phrase, "Work Smarter, Not Harder". It is NOT smarter to have one team shove a bunch of merchandise out willynilly, then have a single associate (take it upon herself to) go around fixing things. My department looks horrible, even after I've scrambled to get it into some semblance of rhyme and reason. I always try to view the floor from the customer's point of view. The way this new procedure says to do things? Might as well just pile a bunch of random things all on one rack, with a catchall price sign.

But, no. Rather than see that the new procedure is a bad idea, the VIPs will blame the workers for not getting it right. -_-
