Doomsday

The Smallville episode, not the Doctor Who one.
I just watched it, and I have decided to post my thoughts here.

Smallville, known for its ability to pull any season out of the toilet with an amazing finale, has reached a FAIL of epic proportions. Not only was it anti-climactic, but they managed to piss off every fanbase and waste our time with a collection of poor post-production and writing.

Below are the thoughts that occurred to me as I was watching the episode:

1. How did Clark get a message for Rokk to meet him? When? Why?

2. As stated previously... Rokk is an ASS. Plus, there really was no need for him to be in this episode.

3. Jor-El sent Clark to Earth the rule, not save, humankind. Continuity fairy misses another one.

4. Not only is the Persephone/Demeter story incorrect here, but the attempt to tie it to Chlarkoom is so corny

5. ED's acting is so bad, I could cry. And she didn't seem this worried the last time Chloe was kidnapped by Dooms. A couple of tears and that was it.

6. Nois is acting like Blahna!

7. The phone call- how the Hell did she not figure this out? He disappears and all of a sudden the phone rings? Hm, I wonder....

8. The phone booth comment- ick.

9. The whole conversation is so forced!

10. This episode is very badly written- everything seems so forced and mechanical. The dialogue just doesn't work.

11. Bart cracks me up with his dudes-have-issues quote.

12. What authority does Clark have to kick Oliver out of the JLA? He's not even a member yet. Obviously Legion ass-kissing has gone to his head. Pompous ass.

13. Haha, Jimmy pointing out Nois's stupidity. Good stuff.

14. Why exactly would Tess have video footage of her torturing one of Lex's staff? Videos like these always find their way into the press. Surely she's not that stupid. Unless she means for someone to find it...

15. A rather flexible Kryptonite arrow, isn't it? Notice how bendy it was when he falls on the ground?

16. Tess insulting Nois- Hee.

17. The "family loyalty" comment... what? There has been no mention of Tess's family at all. Especially not to Nois... where is she getting this insult from, exactly?

18. Also, she knows where Chloe is- Jimmy told her. Why is she still on the "mission"? Moron

19. WHAT?? That fight came out of nowhere! All Nois did was pick up her keys and then it's "fight fight fight"

20. The "witty" banter during the fight? It was stupid in Buffy, it was stupid in Charmed, it was stupid in Heroes, it's stupid in Smallville.

21. Two notes about the fight-
a) it's too well choreographed to be taken seriously,
b) it looks like it was done to look like a lesbian porn scene waiting to happen. Ick.

22. Who, in the middle of a fight, picks up a ring on the floor??

23. Doomsday is laughable. He looks so fake! Clearly, this scene skipped the post-production stage.

24. Since when does Clark heal like that? Plus, he's still within close proximity of green K... he shouldn't be healing until its gone... and the blood already outside of his wound should still be there. It's never vanished completely.

25. Why was Aaron Ashmore given such terrible dialogue in his last episode? The poor guy deserved more than that.

26. "Super... guy" - Are. You. Kidding. Me.

27. The music composer needs to be banned from ever composing again. Ever. Also the sound mixer- the music is far too loud for this scene. You can barely hear the dialogue.

28. The special effects are terrible! You'd think they'd put more effort into it. The car Clark caught looked like a cartoon.

29. When did Clark to Chloe say that Jimmy would take Chloe and Davis somewhere safe? Was there a scene I missed?

30. As much as I hate Chimmy, the scene is very sweet. And it's heart breaking, knowing what's coming next.

31. Jimmy's death is horrible! Possibly the most heart breaking death on the show. The only scene they actually provoked an emotional response from me. Thanks to Aaron, Allison and Sam for actually doing some decent acting.

32. The death of Doomsday is so unbelievably anti-climactic.

33. New!Jimmy is way too young. Why would they replace Aaron? He was perfect.

34. The set-up for New!Jimmy is awful! And I still don't understand why Jimmy's family didn't acknowledge Chloe. Regardless of whether or not she met them, they must have known that he got married- it was announced in the newspaper.

35. Why is Clark not comforting Chloe? Asshole!

36. Holy lightswitch Superman! How could he turn his back on Chloe when she needs him the most?

37. Nois' disappearance is supremely downplayed. Fills me with glee, but I can imagine how pissed off the Noisers must be. They were told "all will be forgiven"... so they send Nois somewhere in time with the Legion ring... and then that's it? Pah, they have a strange notion of what would make a Noiser forgive them for Stiletto. It makes me happy that she was blatantly written out of the episode, but still. Poor writing.

38. The fade out is so corny- what was the point? He was nearly out of the door anyway.

39. The holding stomach thing does seem to signify pregnancy... how? She wouldn't have banged Davis, it's been too long since she was with Jimmy and it couldn't be Clark. Having said that, losing your friend, your love, your cousin and your soulmate in one day could probably make you feel like you want to throw up. Perhaps the grabbing stomach thing was her being so distraught with grief that she was going to throw up.

40. When did the disco ball come back? Something broke it out at the beginning and then it returns in the end? That's just far too random.

41. The Zod thing is so overdone- this could have been done without the whispering and still be effective. On the bright side, the man in the centre looks to be Sam Witwer.

Overall, the worst finale they have ever done. Why this show is coming back, I have no idea. Its a disgrace to sci-fi television and cheapens all the show's former glory.
This really could have benefitted from being a two-parter... as it stands, its badly written, badly directed, under developed and just plain awful. I feel very conned.
