Know What?
So, six people have gotten back to me about my novel, Silver. That's out of about eleven people who I've sent it to, I guess. *counts* Yeah, eleven. Of those other five I know they have had really busy, crazy, lives the last months or so. A friend here has had a nutso work schedule and family issues, my friend Matt's dad died, two of them have two kids and hectic jobs, and one of them is my cousin who is AWESOME but notoriously bad at getting back to people. So, those people have good reasons.
But here's the super cool stuff (names will be initials for privacy's sake):
D., my Official Reader and the only one to read the whole thing. Also, very honest, for which I adore her.
'Addicting', 'Awesome', and 'When I finish reading...I have to shake it off'
C., who is seriously deep and kooky, if you can imagine that.
'I'm eager to read the rest...The main character is easy to relate to already. I want to get to know her.'
K., my super cool friend from HS
'I am riveted with the first so far...you are inspiring.'
S., who is a BOY, a very imaginative one.
'And do you know WHY I was up till 2:30 this morning? Because I couldn't PUT YOUR BOOK DOWN!'
I won't add my mother's or my Father's-in-law comments but suffice to say they both really like it, too.
You know, I think this thing might just get published.
And I have realized, if I do end up with professional literature critics taking a look, I'll still be more thrilled that you guys liked it and had fun reading it than if they did.
They are the icing, but you're the cake!
