Definitely feeling mixed emotions about what's going on in the world today.

I am overjoyed that gay marriage is finally legalized here in California. Now i'll get to see all three of little my brothers, including my absolutely faaaabulous brother Eli, walk down the aisle if they choose to do so. The fact that certain people (*cough* President Bush *cough cough*) have been trying to push a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage makes my stomach churn. Marriage is about LOVE and COMMITMENT, and that's fuckin' it. DUH. I want to get that bumper sticker "The mind is like a parachute...it only works when it's open." That and a Darwin fish, LOVE those little guys hehe

I am extremely sad, however, that Mother Nature has ravaged China with a devastating 7.8 earthquake (plus a powerful after shock a few days later which caused even more damage). When i looked at the news on my Yahoo account, there were 160 photos of the victims and ruins of the quake. I got through about 100; it was shocking and incredible. Not sure how i got through that many pictures without crying. There's something about seeing people in pain, especially over the death of a loved one, that just rips apart inside. The most intense pics were prob'ly the ones with the parents grieving over the bodies of their children who were killed when their school collapsed. What made it even more heart-wrenching was that most of these kids were also only children, with no siblings. So most of the parents lost the one pride and joy that they had. It's so horrible. Nature is so fucking scary sometimes (o_O)

On a more local basis, i'm both petrified and exhilerated about finally graduating next week with a BS (love the abbreviation, really says a lot hehe). I've applied to about a dozen different jobs and police academies, have gotten little word from any of them. Yet i can't wait to be done with school for good. It's a double-edged sword; i'll be so happy once i have my degree in criminal justice, but that also means i need a job to support myself (and keep myself sane, i'll get sooooo bored when my roomies are away at work in the daytime). My whole family is coming up for the ceremony which is really exciting. Mom is driving up with Eli and Gabe, Dad is driving up with Jacob (carpooling would've been cheaper obviously, but i think Dad would rather die than ride in the same car as his ex-wife). At least i'll get to see everybody. It still doesn't seem real yet...i had my last lecture ever yesterday. I have 2 or 3 finals next week, then i'm DONE DONE DONE DONE!!! Been an undergrad for waaaaaaaaaaaay too long hehe
