a little charity

hello friends!

i am doing a sponsored 17 mile night time hike on the 16th september in aid of a new
cancer centre building that is due to be opened in 2006 at charing cross hospital. as a frequent visitor to the cancer wards, this event is very close to my heart and i can't even begin to say how badly something like this is needed - if you've ever visted the cancer wards at charing cross you'd see how bleak and horrible they are, particularly for the longer term patients. maggie's centres make a harrowing experience that little bit easier.

the event itself is sponsored by metro life, with jon snow (the newsreader) fronting it. the mileage is a bit daunting for a self-confessed couch potato, as is the night time bit (for a girl who needs her sleep), but i am determined to do it. the walk follows the route of the circle line and runs from 10.00 pm to 10.00 am the next morning. that's a lot of walking!

it is a really worthwhile event and i would be very grateful for your support. donating is easy - you can donate online by credit or debit card at the justgiving website.

all donations are secure and sent electronically to maggies centres who run these cancer centres. If you are a uk taxpayer, justgiving will add an automatic 28% bonus to your donation at no cost to you, making it even more worthwhile.

any amount, however large or small, will be gratefully received and i hope you will feel able to join me in supporting maggies centres.

i'm doing the walk with my mother, sister and a good friend. we've set ourselves a target of
