Well, she's been to the vet.
Feel a little better of sorts - more informed.
Worst prognosis is Lymph node zirconia/leukaemia, which means it could have spread to other nodes by now. But since we brought her in fairly quickly we may have caught it in time.
The first thing the vet did was check the other sites of her nodes - ie groin arm pits etc. no other swellings or lumps - good sign.
The next worst possibility is Mastocytoma or mast cell tumour, which if caught early is usually benign. they are also well self contained (round lump that is easily removed with a lesser likelihood of cells being left behind.
The last possibility is that it's a swollen lymph node reacting to her past chest infection! or a current viral infection, if this is the case we need to closely monitor it as if the lump reduces, the op can be cancelled.
She has an operation booked in for Tuesday - vet wanted her in soon as poss.
we still have some cash left over from the car loan, so she is a very lucky little rat as we can afford the op!
I fully understand that she might get lumps later on if it is the first option, and if thats the case, then theres nothing we can do to stop the process. But at least we tried and gave her the option of a little more time rather than giving up straight away which is essentially a death sentence in its self.
silly rat, tried to climb into my ear as she was fed up of the vet poking at her groin!
She's calming down now with a nice chocolate button.
