I was idly browsing tonight and found something really cool:
Want to see one of the cats I took care of while I was living in Florida?
Here he is! This is Bogey. He was the first stray I got hanging around me, and I have a suspicion that he was abandoned by the first group of neighbors that were living next door to me at the time. Back then, Bogey was all skin and bone, and I honestly thought he was seriously sick. I eventually had him neutered and tried to adopt him, but he and Sam did NOT like each other, so I had to give Bogey up to the local
cat shelter on the island. (This place is really great; it's also the same place I took Freddie cat when I learned that I would have to go back to Illinois - I didn't want to just leave him with nobody to take care of him!) Anyhoo, Bogey filled out nicely and looks so much better now. I hope him and Freddie are doing all right. I miss them.
(Also, if you like donating to animal causes, Helping Paws is a great place to start. They're a small, locally-owned shelter and the lady who runs it sank her entire life's savings into creating it, because it's always been a dream of hers to build such a shelter.)
