L-R: George, Nancy, Teeny, Bess
i was watching
Nancy Drew tonight and was kinda annoyed at it. isn't Nancy's hair meant to be kinda more reddish? isn't Bess described in every single book as "plump"? i guess her endless dieting finally worked. and George is meant to be a tomboy. plus, Hannah was all wrong... but that might be just because i'm used to seeing her as
a skin. also, Ned Nickerson was practically non-existant.
maybe i'm just being picky... after all i haven't read the books in years... but basically Nancy, George and Bess were all exactly not what i pictured. the way Nancy was played and dressed worked quite well, and what little dialogue George had was fairly suited to my knowledge of the character, i suppose.
and although the character of Teeny looked and sounded similar to Majandra Delfino, i knew it was not her - so i imdbed it and discovered that Teeny was played by none other than Majandra's older sister, Marieh! who woulda thunk it? despite that, i found the character kind of pointless. i'm not even sure why she was there. kind of an episode-three-padme deal.
so i've also gotten a little hooked on hex again after watching one episode. sure, i don't understand what the fuck is going on, but i'm into it again. ...bizarre show, really, i can only find one main character from the beginning still there.
and also also, i drove for two hours today which is good - my dad's getting scared again when i drive because on the there-trip i was talking and driving at the same time. i even drove and debated gender representation in superhero texts as well as a woman's ability to achieve things without resorting to using her sexuality. and i still haven't crashed into anything. i didn't talk on the way home though, and i did go into a drive-through for the first time. very happy. actually i'd better go scratch off those hours now!
dammit i want some goddamn chocolate!
EDIT: i'd like to point out that they did give Nancy her blue convertable. yay! it was pretty.
