Okay, remember how I declared The 4400 shark-jumped back in like the third episode this season? I'm not backing off that, but I will admit...
s#&$ just got interesting.
I mean, yeah, I'm pissed Megan is still somehow alive (what the F is wrong with the villians on this show that they can't JUST KILL HER ALREADY?). Not only that, but she didn't even get a useful ability...unless her ability turns out to be turning inanimate objects into anything, not just turning pens into flowers, cause that? Yeah, lame. But let's get real & admit that nobody was thinking about anything else in that scene at NTAC when everyone started getting infected except MARCO'S GETTING AN ABILITY! MARCO'S GETTING AN ABILITY! MARCO'S GETTING AN ABILITY! HOPE IT'S COOL! HOPE IT'S COOL! HOPE IT'S COOL! And it totally was! I wonder if it's like Hiro's bending time & space or if it's just teleporting? Either way, awesome! They finally gave the one consistently watchable character on this show a plot twist...there's hope for this show yet.
Besides that, I'm disappointed they resolved the Evil!Tom subplot so easily. Evil!Tom was tons more interesting than NotEvil!Tom, plus he whined a lot less. RE: Danny's death...doesn't it say something about his character that he never even told Shawn he was right? Shawn didn't want him to take the shot in the first place, but he let him make the decision in the end & was never anything but a good brother to him. Danny took the shot knowing he had almost no risk for dying but seemingly without even considering the consequences of a potentially bad ability. Give him credit, once he did figure out it was him, he refused to let more people get exposed by letting Shawn take him off the inhibitor...but then he went ahead & basically forced Shawn to put him out of his misery, instead of having the doctor overdose him or whatever, as if there wasn't any other way but to make his brother kill him himself. Man. Shawn's gonna be f-ed up. I mean, even more than he already was. Sucks b/c, except for when he was w/Isabelle, Shawn's actually been one of the more likable characters on this show. And crap just keeps happening to him.
Anyway, good going, USA, you drew me back in. I'll check back in w/you next summer to see Marco's new ability, anyway.
Emmy's were tonight, which reminded me of all the shows that are coming back that I'm psyched about. Heroes in like a week! OMG I hope they don't ruin it. All the new characters worry me, but I can't help but be pumped. I mean dude. They got DAVID FREAKING ANDERS. Give that casting director a raise.
I haven't decided yet whether to completely sever the cord on Grey's. I really just kind of want to end it now. I already hate all the characters, I even hated the end of Alex's subplot. Interesting, I think I'm going to give Private Practice a shot, mostly b/c I recently discovered
http://television.aol.com/in2tv which has a bunch of episodes of Eyes, a favorite of mine that got cancelled quickly & before its time, IMO, & which stars Tim Daly...& whose wife on the show is Kate Walsh. Great stuff! Maybe the new show will have done some market research over the summer & realized nobody wants to see the guy who played Piz on Veronica Mars shirtless EVER AGAIN.
So, so far I'm committed to Heroes, House, Bones, L&O: SVU, The Office, NUMB3RS, Friday Night Lights, maybe Brothers & Sisters & CSI & definitely Project Runway, when it decides to finally grace us with its presence. Of the new shows, I'm going to give Big Shots a chance, if only for its completely awesome cast. PS: did I mention I'm still looking for a job?
