There's something you need to know

I feel like I should really write this out. I was going to this morning then I decided against, then now I can't really sleep cuz I've been on some craft energy making too much... craft LOL I haven't been drawing much these two days, I've just been uninspired. But after I made those two books and that one envelope I feel a lot better and am ready to move back to drawing. Sometimes we just need a break I guess.

Anyway, there was a writer's block question a while back and it asked to share a significant event in your life that changed your way of seeing things or what not. Two things came to mind : Desert Ecology field trip and judging for e1njuwannakno's One Piece contest. First one okay, second what? I'm actually really really thankful he asked me to do it cuz 1. he rarely asks me favours, and it's nice when he does ahaha 2. it really changed my perspective on how to see art - if you will. Tolling up the points in different criteria really showed me how even though the piece is badly drawn, there are other things to see than technique and style. This picture can look fug but the idea can be brilliant. The style can be gorgeous but the composition and ideas are lacking. You guys could be nodding your heads and saying "yeah what's new, it's elementary dear", but this really didn't strike me till I had to take the time to scrutinize all 70 entries. It really changed the way I look at things in front of me. I try to be rational and analyze pieces, and not gush all over things (though this is quite unavoidable). It also really made me sympathize with a lot of amateur/beginner artists, great ideas but not always the best execution. I've become a lot more open to different styles than before.

Yup. That's what I wanted to get out. I also admire people with consistent styles ;A; I wish I had that. Anyway I think the moral of it was to keep an open mind. Anyway I'm sleepy. gnite xD

man a year ago from now I was sleeping under the stars probably in Arizona.
