yazoo night out

Thank you picocha and midnightbanshee for the LJ gifts!! ♥♥♥

Every year my work place goes out to have a Christmas dinner/party type of thing! This year we decided to visit L'Oratoire de Saint-Joseph followed by a dinner at O.NOIR

This year, though we had Eric on the team at work, he ended up not coming! So it's a girls' night out again ;D I feel more comfortable that way anyways. We went to visit the Oratory because two of my coworkers have never been there, and it was about time I go visit again, since I don't remember how it looks like. I'm not Catholic, for the record.

At the oratory there's like strange commercial catholic stuff going on like : buy a blessing, pay to light a prayer candle, buy this and that etc. All that weird stuff that gives Religion a bad rep. Though it didn't stop me from lighting a prayer candle with my dear Kirsten :333 we lit two together for our families. And in my heart, I said a short prayer for my family and all my dear friends ♥

On the first floor the body of Frère André was there in a small viewing room. It was really beautiful. Above his coffin was written in latin, english and french "Humble servant of God" something like that. I forget. There were signing books so I left our store's name on it x3

Then we explored the rest of the opened areas. The heart of Frère André was on the 4th floor... in a crypt... in a glass square box... I took a picture, but I thought I'd spare you guys... It's kinda really old and black and brown and well you know, it's kinda gross, and huge from swelling in the formulae... YEAH. There were displays of Frère André in wax sculpture (also kinda scary). He was a really short man! I dunno.. ahah /random

Overall, I was really there to go see the designs. I know there are parts that I have been to that we couldn't go see. We walked into a mass too, so I got to see how the chapel looked like. It's much more square and modern in design than what I expected... Rather plain and simpler than what I had in mind. It was beautiful nonetheless.

This seems all serene but it really wasn't. If my boss and manager are around there's bound to be ruckus. /facepalm. They're the biggest clowns EVER. So really, I'm trying to keep a straight face inside this cathedral and there they go making fools out of themselves oh gosh ahahahaha /shakes head

After we finish there, we head to the restaurant!!! It's so exciting!!!! The restaurant has blind waiters, and you eat in pitch darkness! As if you're blind yourself. You have to order first outside at the counter. The menu is also online so if you want to check it out. It's a bit nerve wracking at first heading in! Our waiter, Amidir, was very nice. We head in while holding onto each other's shoulders and he guides us to our table *w* in DARKNESS. COMPLETELYYYY. I got a comfy chair uhooo >w< and on the right of me, there was a wall. There was lots of screaming and laughing and.. touching xD First thing I did was feel around for my utensils and the table and such. I'm surprised I got used to it really fast. Kirsten said that she keeps opening her eyes wider expecting to eventually catch a glimpse of something ahahah. And it's true, I keep feeling like I'll see something soon! But.. NOTHING. We got warm bread first xD our first attempt at eating! I buttered my bread with my knife normally. My manager told me I eat really loud ahahaha Kirsten said that too. I was like CHEW CHEW CHEW NOMNOM. I WAS SO HUNGRY BY THEN. But good thing I only had one bread, cuz the portions for the meal were really good. I got apt enough that when the appetizers came, I was stealing my manager's food LOL (she sat in front of me). I managed to eat 98% of my meal without using my hands to help me. ahaha Unfortunately, my boss and manager were already digging in with their hands ... SO GROSS. PLUS THEY WERE HAVING A FOOD FIGHT BETWEEN THEMSELVES AND SMEARING FOOD ON EACH OTHER. During the main course I RECEIVED A HUGE PIECE OF FILET MIGNON SQUARE IN THE FACE. Reason why I slept with meat sauce in my hair. After the main course, my boss and manager had to go take a smoke, and the vet (she's part of our team ahaha) also went out for some air. So dessert was put on hold ;;A;; Oh man there was so much laughs and good times. THE DESSERT CAME. IT WAS HUGE. I had the chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. DUUUUDE. The cake was DELICIOUS, not enough ice cream. That was the only time when I used my finger to help myself shove it onto my fork ahah. My boss didn't really like it so I grabbed her plate right away and consummed it with Kirsten. ahaha she was shocked I could grab the plate so fast. It was such a neat experience! The only bad thing was the jerkfaces near us thinking it was funny using their camera to take pictures of their food. wtf. I shouted so hard at them lol. Srsly effing rude and ruining the experience for other people. When we came out of the dark, the girls at the counter was like are you guys family or something? Our group is so chill it doesn't look like we're coworkers or anything ahaha. (I'd probably be the adopted child or something. My nickname is "Little Orphan Annie"). And it was also then that i saw how grossly covered in grease and chocolate my manager was... srsly disgusting ahahahaa. her hair and face oh gosh. ahahaha She looked like some insane person... and well she IS. When we finally left the building, my boss and her took out the napkin from the restaurant... (WTH) and they both had wrapped a piece of filet mignon they didn't finish just to check how cooked it is. WHAT. THE. HEll. LOL.

I love my working environment. Yup.

On our way home my boss decided to drive around so we can see the Christmas lights. :> it was really nice downtown. It makes me think of all the places I would go with my friends and my lovies. -u- uhoo. In the car, I was gasping for air, not because both my boss and manager are heavy smokers, but because I couldn't stop laughing at all the jokes ahahaha. Mannn good times. One of these nights we're going to go with them with a police scanner and hunt for crime scenes around town A___A We're so cool.

Anyway, that was my awesome night xD~

So now up until Christmas, I will be working 4 nights at Yazoo. It's most likely my msn friends won't see me online... ): Still double dutying at my mom's in the mornings 10~5pm then Yazoo 6~9pm. Sigh. I'm going to miss some people. Anyway LET'S GET PUMPED FOR THE XMAS RUSH HUZZAH!!! GO ME GO ME!!! RAHHH!

:3

PS. What I ordered
Entrée: Avocado salad with lime dressing - oh gosh there were generous portion of perfectly ripe avocadoes and sided with light green salad. Could use slightly bit more lime dressing.

Main Course: Marinated shrimp with herbs, served with dried tomato risotto - risotto sauce was DELICIOUS. But i'm not fond of the risotto texture, but it was really good. Sided with nicely steamed long beans and carrots. The shrimps were HUGE and beautifully cooked. DELICIOUS.

Dessert: Gâteau au chocolat style Viennois 1832 avec glace à la vanille - is this Sachertorte?? Either way the cake wasn't too sweet, but had chocolate icing on it also. Very rich. Lovely. Vanilla ice cream was excellent also, but could've used a bit more. ahaha I had to look for it for a while. OH GOSH THE PORTION WAS SO GOOD.

Would go again!! I wanna try their octopus entrée!!

and i just checked. It was Sachertorte :9
