I haven't written in a while.

I found my dress! Yippie. I was getting so discouraged. Most people have been telling me that I would know it when I put it on and that the aha moment usually happens within the first 5 dresses. Ummmmm. Not for me. The dress that I eventually bought was probably the 7 or 8 that I looked at in the first store and I liked it but it wasn't my dress because the lady didn't let me try it on. It was 2 sizes too small so she just held it up to me and told me to imagine how it would look on me. But this was the 5th or 6th for which I was required to use "my imagination". I am not spending thousands if dollars to purchase a dress that I imagined would look one way and then looks different when purchased at a non-refundable price. A little scary. Especially because it wouldn't be here till 3 weeks before the date which is not enough time to find another one.

So I moved on and went to 4 other stores. I am sure I was labeled a "difficult" bride because I really didn't know what I was looking for. Everything I had decided I liked in pictures was a no go because of my body shape. And in most stores I ran into the same imagination requests. By the end I was sooooo over imagining. I couldn't imagine any more. Why should I have to. It is supposed to be my day and I can't even have my aha moment because I didn't want to buy a dress from a davids or Alfreds. I didn't want to wear the same dress the girl next door was able to just walk in and buy off the rack. But they are the only ones that keep a stock of dresses over a size 10 on hand at all times.

Well I took my mom and sister back to the first store to show them a Maybe dress. My sister made the lady put "the" dress over my head even if it couldn't be zipped so I could get a feel for it. Aha moment happened. I started crying because I was beginning to think it wasn't going to happen or that I would just have to settle. Whew. Crisis averted. On to the next problem.
