My weekend started off on a great note. I woke up on Friday to an email saying I'd gotten the job in France after graduation. Then on Saturday, I went somewhat reluctantly with my mom to Atlantic City to see Bob Seger (she wanted a concert buddy). It was actually fun, too.
whatsmynom and I had been talking/joking for a few weeks now about going to the Water for Elephants premiere, so when she called me this morning to see if we were actually going to do this, I thought: "You know what? We should." We packed on some layers, hopped on the subway, and headed up to 54th and 7th to see if we'd be able to see anything.
Turns out, we did a little better than that.
The marquee at the Ziegfeld Theater.
When we got there, they had rolled out the red carpet and were still setting up.
The four of us didn't have signs, so we made our own. The people around us didn't get what we were doing. They clearly need less lives so they can watch more Rob interviews.
Some guys came around and handed out free posters:
S decided it was the perfect opportunity to make a better sign. (Not everyone around us and on twitter got the pun, which was highly disappointing lol. Hey there, Vanity Fair.)
Rob arrived first and the crowd started getting pushy. We didn't see him for about 25-30 minutes because he was signing autographs.
These girls apparently missed the Rock of Love auditions and tried to skip the barricades several times. They had pink bedazzled Uggs. IDK. Thankfully our section had little patience for line-skippers and the bodyguards made them move.
Still no Rob for us.
Others started to arrive on the red carpet.
The Pattinson family (slightly blurry). His parents and sisters were there.
Getting crazier.
A wild Dean appears! (Rob's bodyguard)
People swarmed as he moved down the line (he signed autographs for 30-40 minutes).
I could finally see more than just a glimpse of his hair (he's on the right).
Rob's pretty head. He's so so tall in person; we could see that from far away.
Stephanie is always watching.
ROB. Okay, so from here, the pictures are kind of all over the place, but it was a madhouse. He was so pretty and so clean and so tall and smiley, and just... perfect. Unfortunate, everyone else thought so, too. I think I'm going to have bruises tomorrow. One girl elbowed me in the neck. We all got banged up except for
whatsmynom , the stupid lucky tall girl haha.
Dean in control.
Dean telling the crazy pushy people near us to calm their tits because Rob would be coming around. Anya and I discussed that our dream was to get carried away by Dean, but alas. We were well-behaved.
At this point, my eyes had turned into cartoon hearts.
Signing my pooooster :D
This bodyguard was awesome and took no shit from anyone.
And then Rob went over to the carpet, after making sure he got to the entire fan line. It was really sweet of him. Also after seeing his back so much today, I have a new fondness for it.
Reese went to part of the line, but had to run to the carpet. You can sort of see her head lol
rofl, hi, Julia Stiles in the green dress.
Reese and Rob from the back.
Reese and Rob from the back, way zoomed in hahah.
Reese's pretty dress :)
Then it was time to come home. We said goodbye to our partners in elbowing people who tried to push us, littlesecret and ciao_bella, and talked for a little with some other fandom people (including some of the brave people who camped out last night in the rain) and headed toward the subway. Our feet hurt, but
whatsmynom and I both agreed: totally worth it.
I got the initial signature, but it was still awesome. A really fun and exciting day :) :)
