When the health care bill passed, New York was among those celebrating. Yes, he was more than a little happy that the President had been able to push through this very important, and right, piece of legislation through Congress, even if it had taken about a year. It was going to be very beneficial to the country as a whole, especially for America's citizens. Yes, New York was celebrating.
But...something caught his eye as he flipped through pages of newspapers. A few states were challenging the constitutionality of the bill. Now...while New York should not have been surprised, because in his point of view now...Republicans had become nothing but kids who cannot compromise and sulk and fight and obstruct important bills when they do not get their way (yes, his opinion of them had gone down quite a bit in the past few years), he was more enraged when he saw the list. Pennsylvania, for one, his best friend, was on the list...though New York couldn't in his right mind believe that Pennsylvania would voluntarily believe that. He figured it was just one of his bosses being a complete moron.
But, the one that stuck out in his mind, of course, was Texas. Texas, unlike Pennsylvania, would agree with that idiotic belief that the bill was unconstitutional. Again, New York shouldn't have been surprised - changing a man's political beliefs was much more difficult than making him admit he liked another man, ironically - but that didn't make him any less pissed off because of it.
Though...Texas had been in the news a lot recently, hadn't he? The other thing that caught New York's eye...was what his council was doing to textbooks. History textbooks that were meant to educate, were being snipped away because of political implications. People who believe that they could erase people from history, people like Thomas Jefferson, a man New York had personally known, just because they did not agree with them...were in charge of educating the country.
...That was unacceptable. Why wasn't Texas doing anything about it?
New York couldn't even bring himself to pick up the phone and call about all these things. No...this had to be settled in person. So, not even bothering to think about what he was leaving behind for the...possible few days he would be gone, he got in his Mercedes, and drove the several-hour drive down to his lover's ranch. He was surprised he didn't get caught speeding...because he definitely was.
When he finally arrived, it was dark, but he didn't even bother checking what time it was. Definitely not too late, he knew that much. He stopped so short his tires skidded against the ground, and he quickly got out, made his way to Texas' front door, and knocked. Or rather...pounded on it would be more accurate. Yes, New York was pissed, and he was going to let Texas know that even before he stepped into his house.
