The Burning Wheel

The Burning Wheel arrived in the mail yesterday.  I'm about a third of the way through the first book.

There's a lot of features (especially the mechanic for improving skills through use) that are uncannily similar to some older features of The Rustbelt (features which got cut because they weren't relevant, not because they were bad), except with a lot less math.  Which is hella clever.

Instincts are absolutely genius, and I am stealing them for Uncanny Underground.

When I bought it, I didn't actually intend to play it (I wanted to study it), because I'm not particularly into RPG fantasy.  But a friend of mine is, and I told him about it, and he's really interested, so I might end up playing anyway.  The complexity doesn't scare me, because The Rustbelt used to be just as baroque (plus it required a calculator!  Like, all the time!), so, yeah, it could happen.
