What is your major/minor? What classes did you take? How did it work financially (did you get financial aid from your school and then when you went abroad did the package stay the same, increase, or decrease? Did you get any scholarships for traveling abroad?)
-my majors are psychology and human services with a minor in sociology -i took 2 psychologys, a sociology, and a womans studies -i basically paid my schools (northeastern) tuition, my financial aid and scholorships still applyed, i didn't get any special scholarships but i also didn't apply for any
I'm going to University College Cork in August for a year, but thats because I have no desire whatsoever to study in Northern Ireland, so there you go.
I'd vote on Galway, because it would be awesome to hear gaelic spoken in day to day use.
I'm an Anthropology major and Medieval Studies minor at the University of Florida. At UCC I'm going to be working for a Certificate of Irish Studies and my declared "major" is Irish Archaeology, which I'm doing an early start program in before the regular school year while I'm there.
So you can complete the Certificate of Irish Studies in a year? I want to take at least one language class if I go to NUI Galway, but I read in an information booklet of theirs that visiting students usually can't take the language classes for credit since they need to have had training previously or something.. but I could still take a class for 0 credit, which would be fine with me.
I'm glad you had a good time there. Now I want to go even more! What's your major/minor and what classes did you take there? How did it work out financially? Tell me whatever you want, I'd be interested to hear anything. If you have somewhere where you already wrote about it and you don't want to write about it all over again, you can just link me and that'd be great. Thanks a lot. :)
Yeah, I go to a small school as well--about 2,240 students. And our classes don't depend so much on the final exams, especially since we don't often have final exams but instead final papers.
I'm not really that concerned about financial aid, long as I can get loans.. financial aid is great but as long as the loans cover the rest I'll be happy to go.
Did you go to many musical places while you were there, where Irish music was played? I love Irish music and Irish dancing. :)
The classes you took at NUI, did they count towards the requirements of your major/minor at all? I haven't explored that much at my school yet and it could be different from yours, so I'm kind of concerned about that since I have prereqs. that have to be taken care of and if I went in spring that's when I would be taking the prereqs. if I didn't go to NUI.. guess I should ask the people at my school and not you, though I'm still interested to hear how it works at your school.
