oh funny baseball fic, I've missed you

Prompt from unlovablehands: Grady Sizemore/Curtis Granderson and their secret illicit affair. It was the "secret illicit affair" bit that set the evil hamster wheels turning. Also, I wanted to use last names for this one, like I usually do for slash, but I just couldn't make myself write a slash fic where one of the guys was called "Sizemore" over and over ( Read more... )

I am determined to get through them all. It's so much healthier than the GM fic.

Bwah! that cracked me up. i can tell you had fun writing it. my favorite part, of course: the carpet commentary. do grady's drapes match it? ;)

Y'know, when I wrote it, I honestly didn't intend it to be innuendo....

I just couldn't make myself write a slash fic where one of the guys was called "Sizemore" over and over again without cackling like a crazy person and completely losing it. I'm sorry Grady Sizemore: maybe if you didn't have such a porn star name this wouldn't be an issue.

Poor Grady.

Love the rulebook talk, and also this:
"Hey!" one of the Tigers yells; an anonymous white guy, so probably one of their relief pitchers, Grady thinks. He points at them and laughs. "Quit fraternizin'!"

HEE.

I am so delighted by this. I just! Boys! And Grady being not a total angstpuppy (like I keep writing him because I'm made of fail). And Curtis being all uptight and *smushes delightedly*

The discussion of Grady's carpet made me laugh pretty hard. :DDDDDD

You = awesome.

Hee! I think it was your wording-- secret illicit affair-- that sent me off on a humorous bent. Maybe the slight redundancy of 'secret' and 'illicit'? Not sure, but whatever it was it made me immediately start thinking, "OK, so they're having this secret affair, what are they doing to keep it secret? Hmm. Curtis Granderson is the goodiest goody-two-cleats to ever play baseball, so probably checking the rulebook...." and the rest followed naturally from there.

Yes, it was a slightly silly prompt, and I got a hilarious story out of it, so I have been successful! \o/

Also, I laughed so hard when I saw this on my news reader today. :D

bweeee! this is especially great in juxtaposition with the other prompt-fics so far; you're totally rocking on so many levels. i love the descriptions of the rulebook--this particular well-used rulebook--and how the characters are built up around that singular conceit. it's hilarious and endearing and quite charming, really. THEN IT GETS HOT. this is a great style for fic, there is substance and character and humor and it all works together perfectly.

is there anything you can't do ... ? ;D

Hee, yes, I think one of the reasons I've been enjoying the SGA fandom so much is that there are lots and lots and lots of opportunities for quick funny chatter (neurotic genius astrophysicists and MENSA-level sarcastic flyboys!), which you necessarily get less of in baseball ("Ah like huntin', an' wimmins, an' throwin' 'dem baseballs!"). These two seemed to lend themselves to chatter, though, which I love writing, so, yay.

I couldn't sing if my life depended on it...? :P
