File-Sharing Continues at Colleges courtesy of Yahoo News and the AP.
If you've ever read an article about filesharing in a newspaper or online, then you'll recognize most of the content as standard fare.
"Hey, kids aren't getting what they want from legal services. They still want to go the illegal route. But, hey, universities are trying. Check out all these legal alternatives. Your completely lack of enthusiasm for the services is duly noted and then completely forgotten."
I post this mostly because AU gets mentioned early on. The article also conveniently provided a bunch of numbers regarding usage of legal services at AU and was nice enough to remind me that they're providing Napster to us this year and might be taking the cost out of our tuition.
I also post this as a caution to us: Using filesharing programs at college is DUMB. There are various reasons why. The bottom line is that if you use WinMX or K-Lite or Limewire, drop it and find a different way to get music.
By the way: I don't support Napster or any legal download service. No service is actually selling us our music, and what Napster is actually doing is renting it out. It's insulting.
