(no subject)
so there is a lot I have been meaning to write about but have been way too busy/lazy to do it. I am shooting my theme assembly on Saturday or Monday. I have NO CLUE what I want to do. I wanted to shoot mine with the 30STM theme but I am just missing somehthing. I have a sweatshirt, CDS and a tshirt but what could I possibly do with that to make it an amazing photograph that makes a statement about them? I need to think of something fast because its DUE next thursday and pre production takes so much time UGH. I need to have AT LEAST four props in the photo. Maybe i will choose an easier topic. I need idea's people! Tomorrow I am shooting my product shot...I hope I can get it done in time to get it processed before class on Thursday morning.
Tonight I am shooting my flash test and going to the dark room to do a print that was due last week. It totally sucks that I can't get down to the laugh factory tonight :( But Action Action is playing at the roxy on Thursday so I will get down to LA. Plus we went to san fran sunday and that drive SUCKED and I have NO desire to take anymore trips for a few more days. But we met JIM fucking Marshall! His photos of Janis Joplin and Johnny Cash are legendary. He was so cool and couldn't believe we wanted to meet him that badly lol He gave us two of his books (they are $50 each). Plus he bought us lunch and looked at our work. He couldn't give us much advice because the industry now is so hard to break into. He said our shots are above average but yet average. Like our quality is good but our shots are what everyone else is doing (just the live shots) He said we should try and get more behind the scenes type of stuff to try and make us different from the rest. After we went to the golden gate bridge and took photos. It was neat to finally see it with my own eyes. I refused to drive on it because I am a pussy when it comes to heights.
Action action is doing a few more CA dates I am hoping to make at least one more besides the la one. Those guys are awesome <3
Last week was an AWESOME week. We had a lot of fun at the laugh factory show. We weren't going to go because we had so much work to do but ended up saying fuck it and went. This leads to us NOT being able to go tonight :( I have SO MUCH WORK TO DO IT'S NOT FUNNY AT ALLLLLL. And it sucks because if I were to have done work on Saturday like I'd planned I would have went tonight. We have to go to the dark room and print plus work on a crapload of other stuff. Anyway the show was amazing my face hurt so bad after from laughing so hard.
After I finally got the balls to go up to Ryan Cabrera and give him a few of my shots I did of him in Syracuse last year. He was SO NICE I heard he was a jerk so I didn't know what to expect. He really loved my photos and told me he was going to hang them in his house and he gave me a huge hug. I asked him to sign one for me and he didn't have a marker so I told him to forget it and he said well I am sure I will see you at another show soon and I left to go see Dane. After I talked to Dane for a few I went back over to wait to see Jay and here comes Ryan back over to me with a marker.....I was super impressed with him. I had him make it out to Brandee (my friend amy's daughter because she loves him and her b-day is this coming weekend). I didn't get a chance to have him sign one for me.....o well. I just wanted him to see my work and have another "bigger" artist know my name. I just thought it was cool he came back when he didn't have to. I am going to be having a 14 year old girl loving me when she gets the photo in the mail!
Jo Koy kept on saying don't leave yet don't leave yet after that. He wanted becky to take pics of him and dane together. So we got rushed back in after people left and she did a bunch of photos of all of the comedians with dane and them individually with dane. Then we ended up going to a place after with Bryce and Jo Koy. We saw sarah there as well and were seated at the table next to her and her crew. It was a GREAT time those two are such a joy to be around. I didn't stop laughing the whole night. I hope to do it again soon!
Thursday we came back down to LA and went to jay's apartment to photograph another model for the add me shirts. We had fun and after went and had coffee with Jay and met up with Adam because he had our scrim at his apartment. We then went to a show with Jay at the Avalon with Tyler Hilton, Butane and a few other bands. I photographed Tyler Hilton and fishbone and Becky did Butane. Jay hosted it and I think did an awesome job. It's hard to entertain a crowd when all they want is to see the bands play. I had a good time but was starting to feel down. My cold turned into a huge ear infection and I was starting to hurt that night :( So after that we headed home and I slept almost all day on Friday because I felt like shit. I still didn't feel well on Saturday and sunday we went up north. yesterday was eh I got some work done. I at least got my hearing back in one of my ears. I thought my head was going to explode on saturday because there was so much pressure inside of my ear drums.
Becky and I have decided to just leave Brooks and get down to LA as soon as possible. We have NO money so we are thinking about going to one class next session and getting our money and dropping out. We have to do that because we have no money to get a place in LA. I am going to start job hunting this week too. I have no clue what I will do but hopefully I will find something that will be good paying and still give me time to work on my photography. Sometimes I wish my parents could at least pay our rent for a while. I would love to just concentrate on doing assisting jobs and interning to get to a paying position with phtoography. But my parents are farmers and can't do it. So I am going to have to get a full time job to pay the bills. Too much to think about right this second....UGH
