Yeah... the whole getting a car for those 24 hours didn't go quite like I planned.
Mostly due to me being dead to the world a whole lot of that time... including waking up today about 10 minutes after the thing was supposed to be back in the Metro parking lot.
Luckily, it doesn't seem that anyone had it scheduled immediately after me.
But, it did allow me to easily make it over to
enlightened77's place last night for revelry and meeting a ton of new and interesting people. Yay! for that.
Having transportation also allowed me to indulge in something else I probably shouldn't have done: the purchase of a curtain rod and decorative sash like things.
Eventually, there will be nice black and deep red curtains behind the entertainment unit. I've been totally sick of looking at the blank wall behind the TV and the room needed something else. What I have in mind has been planned since I moved in here. I'm now almost one step closer to having it set up.
I say "almost" because, low and behold, I have failed at properly sinking the screws that hold the brackets that would hold up the curtain rod that would support the eventual curtains (or the current sashy things). The problem? A combination to uncooperative studs in the wall and screws made of cheap metal. They're all sticking out at least a quarter inch and just refusing to go in any deeper.
The three I've tried to force, both with the power screwdriver I have and by hand, have very quickly given up the dips and edges on their heads. And we all know that screws with nothing to hold on to the screwdriver aren't really useful. There will be a trip to somewhere to try to obtain screws made of slightly more resilient metal.
When it's done there will, of course, be pictures.
Got none of the other errands I had planned done... including food shopping.
Socially, I feel partially vindicated. Financially, I'm (obviously) an idiot.
But we knew that already.
Ah, well, welcome to the Equinox. Seasons change, means I probably will eventually, too.
