Time and Money

According to a note I got in the mailbox at the beginning of the week, my bribe from the Government to complain less (er, "economic stimulus payment") should be here by the fifth.

I'm betting I won't see it until Monday, seeing as how it wasn't in the box today and tomorrow is the 4th of July.

For the past two days, I've successfully talked myself out of buying 5 seasons of Buffy and/or Angel at the Best Buy down the street from my office. This is a good thing.

I also talked myself out of buying much needed pillows of some sort to make the furniture in my apartment suitable for guests to use for more than five minutes at a time. This is not so good.

So today I sucked it up and bought a pillow thing to replace the near completely disintegrated pillow from the back of the chair that matches my couch. Also picked up a slightly larger throw to, well, throw across the back of the couch pillows to cover up the quickly disintegrating pillows there.

This is a losing battle.

The economic stimulus check wasn't in the mailbox today, but the 4th of July ad from Marlo furniture was. Right on the front was a relatively acceptable living room set for about half of what it's usually offered for. A quick check on their website revealed one that was even more acceptable at the same price.

If I weren't quite so deep in debt (and running all my cards so close to limits--though less close than they were at the beginning of the year, small, slow progress is still progress), the decision would be quick and simple. With reality as it is, not so much.

Thing is, if I'm going to be staying in more and bringing people over more often, comfort could count for a whole lot.

Other thing is, could I get things paid down enough and suffer through the summer well enough that when the next sale rolls around (will it be as good? I don't know.) the decision is easier?

*sigh* At least I'm not choosing between gas to get to work and food for a family.

We'll see what tomorrow brings.

One thing tomorrow will bring is, finally, a trip out to see Wall*E. Hitting the 3:45 show at the Majestic in Silver Spring, if anyone's interested. No idea what's going on after that. Very open to ideas.
