Anyone who didn't see this coming raise your hands....

*looks around at all the lack of raised hands*

Yep. The apartment manager was, indeed, not in today at Fireside Park. The reason this time? Her kid is sick.

I'm starting to doubt this person actually exists.

But I was polite when I was told and didn't lay waste to the office.

Instead, I just trundled right back down the hill and made a couple of phone calls.

Based on phone manner alone, there's already one place standing out as better than the rest. I'll be visiting it tomorrow after work to get an actual feel for it. Biggest problem (so far) is that it's in New Carrolton. At the absolute least, that puts me on the Orange Line, well away from the Red Line only commute I was hoping to maintain. And, really, PG County is also not where I want to be. I'll look at the place anyway.

But the rent is good, the apartment (a little) bigger than the one I have now and, so far, the apartment staff much more professional (at least they read the marketing material well... infinitely better than some other places I've called). Of course, that makes me worry that they're front-loading as much good stuff as possible to make up for other problems.

I'd like to think this won't be as difficult as I fear it will be.

Gods, I hope that's the case.

Speaking of difficult... seems that work on the tracks today makes my plan of dropping of the ZipCar at Twinbrook and easily popping back up to Rockville on the train impossible. Glad I checked before I headed out... though this may make hitting atlantis_dc tonight a no-go. :(
