It's an Easter miracle...

Or something like that.

The Comcast guy called and asked if he could show up early as he was running ahead of schedule--by, like, four hours! I told him that would be fantastic.

So, now I'm back on line. I even had him shorten up the super-duper, extra-long hunk of coax that was running between the splitter and the cable modem. At the absolute least, that'll make things under my little table neater. At the most, it'll speed things up little.

(The problem, by the way, was with the splitter... would have never thought those things could go bad for no reason...)

Of course, now I'm left with a wee bit of a problem. I stared laundry with the expectation of being here until much later. If I want to catch a ride to joekerstef's place for revelry and whatnot, I have to be out of here soon. If my dryer decides to keep working like it did for the first load, this shouldn't be a problem. If my clothes are still dripping wet... that complicates things.

If I trusted my dryer, it would be no problem... but I know if I leave wet clothes in it, it will be sure to get rusty or something... and if I let it run while I go out, it'll catch fire.

"Doing laundry" is a very lame excuse for missing something fun. I feel lame even thinking about it. Unfortunately, it is a concern.

blah...

In other matters, checking through the TV listings there's the usual suspects on for the holiday season.

The Ten Commandments is playing on regular network TV. The Passion of the Christ is playing on The Movie Channel (surprised that HBO or Showtime didn't cut that deal). Assorted other Bible-themed programs here and there.

But for some reason there's another Charlton Heston flick showing tonight. This is confusing for two reasons. The first is that it's being shown on The History Channel. They don't often show movies. The second is that it's Planet of the Apes.

Planet of the Apes on the History Channel? WTF? On Easter/Passover weekend?

Is this some sort of Creationism/Evolution thing? And since when did a post-apocalyptic sci-fi film warrant a showing on The History Channel?

It is a strange, strange world we live in...

television, technology, strange, internet, comcast
