Self-perception check

Not too long ago, I just got a note from one of the people I'm working with here on a couple of projects. It contained this line:

It’s great to have you here - You have impressed me already with your pro-activeness.
So now would be a bad time to mention that I feel like I'm simultaneously slacking off and a bit lost, right ( Read more... )

My own standards--especially those for myself--really are that much higher than the rest of the world, aren't they?

Just think what would happen if everyone worked to their highest potential, as opposed to what is percieved as being productive and proactive.

My standards for myself are the same way. When my boss praises my organization skills (which do greatly surpass everyone else's at the lab), I still think she's overpraising me because I'm just naturally that organized. It's not a big stretch for me.

Hooray for actually being productive even when we think we're not.
