It's been a while since I've caught up on my RSS news feeds. I did a little bit of that not too long ago, starting (of course) with my entertainment feeds (easier to find good news there, I figure). There I found the best news I've read in weeks.
Lost Returns in OctoberIn a change from its original plan, ABC has announced that it will begin the new season of Lost in October, show a number of episodes without breaks, then do a long break over the holidays and finish the season in the spring.
The new season will premiere on October 4th on ABC at 9pm Eastern time.
The article also talks a little about some new characters and the general direction to expect the show to go in this season.
Now, I'm nowhere near as worried about the network killing the show.
CSI, Jericho and Survivor To Stream FreeCBS will stream ad-supported episodes of its new and returning prime time shows for free on its Innertube broadband channel beginning in September. Episodes of CSI, CSI: Miami, CSI: New York, Jericho, Numb3rs and Survivor - all owned or co-owned by CBS- will post the day after they air on TV. The three CSI series, NCIS and Numb3rs will be available for four weeks after they air on TV, while Survivor and Jericho will be available for the entire season.
This is a good thing. Now I don't have to worry too much about forgetting to set up my recorder. The experiment that ABC did last season (and, according to the article will continue to do this season) let me catch the Alias finale after I was interrupted in my initial watching of it by an important phone call and let me re-watch a particularly amazing episode of Lost during a very slow day at the office.
I like having a choice when it comes to how I get my shows and when I watch them.
Sci Fi's Battlestar Galactica Blasts Off With RecapMinneapolis-based Met/Hodder is producing a series recap special of Sci-Fi’s Battlestar Galactica that will air across several NBC Universal cable outlets.
Battlestar Galactica: The Story So Far is aimed at bringing in first-time viewers before season three launches October 6, summarizing the first two seasons of the show.
USA Network, Sci Fi, Bravo, Universal HD and Sleuth will all air the show prior to October 6.
The special will also be available via iTunes and Xbox Live, be shown on United Airline's in-flight service, and will be part of a DVD of the second season. Portions of the special will also be available online via Youtube and Google.
Another example of multi-venue spanning of a show. That's the first time I've seen Xbox Live listed as a distribution method, though. Interesting.
I've been pretty happy with the "catch up" shows Met/Hodder has produced in the past. They do a good job of actually adding a bit of insight into the previous seasons as opposed to just running clips. Makes the whole "story so far" concept part of the actual story.
