Futurama Makes a Comeback on Comedy
Comedy Central picked up the rights to run at least 13 new episodes of the Matt Groening/David X. Cohen animated series Futurama. The network had entered an initial multiyear license agreement with Twentieth Century Fox Television last fall to run the 72 prior episodes, with the possibility to run new episodes in the future.
The new episodes, soon to be in production, are scheduled to join Comedy's schedule in 2008. The old episodes previously aired on Fox. Comedy can run both the existing and new episode in January 2008.

Yay! Another good cartoon comes back from the dead!

Trekstorm: Mr. Spock's Wild Ride
Last week, when I posted about the long-dormant proposal for a "Star Trek" re-boot, written by J. Michael Straczynski and myself two years ago, I didn't appreciate how it would be such a classic lesson in the power of the web to get info out there quickly. But it is.

You have to understand that this blog averages only about 100 hits a day. I'd started the blog to better understand the whole experience, teach myself some new computer skills, and so on. Anyway, the baseline: 100 hits a day. These are distinct "visits" from unique people and not just "page views" (we get about 180 of those).

Yesterday, "For What It's Worth" received 8,758 hits. Let's see: that's 87 times normal.

If nothing else, this is proof of what some good word of mouth and a rabid fan base can do. I know I went there and checked things out. As an extra added bonus, I picked up a couple of scripts from Dark Skies (another one of my favorite canceled shows from way back) that Zabel had posted.

I love the Internet. :)
