After spending yesterday melting, I was very happy to find the office at a reasonable temperature this morning. Yay! for functional climate control.
The work has been sparse today. Enough free time to read through over 150 bits of RSS feed news (including lots of full-blown posts). That probably means I'm going to get completely swamped after lunch.
Last night I wasted three hours of my life watching the made-for-TV adaptation of Stephen King's Desperation. For a little while it was fun, but by the time hour three rolled around it had deteriorated into poorly constructed drivel with a lot of "We should listen to God why?" preaching. Is it just me or has King gotten a lot more religious over the last decade or so?
A truly evil and creative thought occurred to me last night, while recovering from having my good sense slapped by bad TV movie crap. Could you imagine a good ol' American musical based on Star Wars: A New Hope? I'm thinking there'd be numbers like "Someday I'll Shake the Sand from my Shoes" (sung by Luke as he laments his boring farmboy life on Tattooine), "(I find your lack of faith) Disturbing" (Darth Vader at that infamous meeting asserting his command), "Wildest Place on the Planet" (a big production number for the Cantina), "Crazy Old Man" (Obi-Wan introducing Luke to the idea of the Force), "Going our Separate Ways" (C-3PO and R2 split after the escape pod lands), "Everything's Fine Here/Short for a Storm Trooper/Something Alive in Here" (a chaotic medley of escape)...
I think the scariest thing is, Lucas may go for the idea if there's actual money in it. Heck, it would be another set of DVDs to sell. :)
