Another week over...

Tonight didn't go quite like I thought it was going to earlier in the week.

By this afternoon, I had decided I was going to pass (again--sorry!) on the game night with bluvampr and seth6666. I figured I was just kind of wiped out and wanted to spend a quiet night at home with my sci-fi, really wind down from the week.

Then, just as I was pulling out of the Metro parking lot, fractalwoman gave me a call. I ended up running a quick favor errand for her. When I stopped by her place to drop off what I had picked up, we ended up talking for a bit, as usual.

During that conversation, it occurred to me that there were more than a few things I could have done tonight if I had felt like leaving the apartment. That, my friends, is something I'm still getting used to--having more that I could do than I can do. It's a good thing. Forces me to make decisions, though. :)

I returned home just in time for my Stargate fix and then devoured the new episode of Battlestar Galactica. It's always interesting to go from the mostly light-hearted fun of the SG shows to the gritty, tense and serious Galactica stuff, but it really shows the diversity you can find in good sci fi.

Now, I'm pretty much wound down. Got Knights of the Old Republic in the X-Box. Since I haven't gotten my old save game yet, I've been replaying it (for the third time now). That's good and relaxing. It's letting my mind wander just enough that I can feel things clicking into place for the rest of the weekend.

There are some errands to run tomorrow in the early afternoon (like picking up my order from Amazon that has Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter and Six String Samurai in it). Tomorrow night I'll be getting together with enlightened77 and raskalnikov to hit the show down at Jaxx that laurieannhaus put together. It'll be good to finally see her perform--though I'm not completely sure what I'm in for. No worries, though, I know I'll find it entertaining.

Sunday should be very low-key, as usual. That's when I have some business working planned--so I can move forward with at least one writing project and that whole job search thing I keep talking about.

I'm taking Monday off (so that transition to all the new work responsibilities will take place on Tuesday) so I can continue to explore 1933 Antarctica in dallendoug's RPG that I jumped into the other week. And the long weekend will be capped off with dinner with the whole crew.

It's going to be fun and interesting. And, if all goes well, productive.

New year is going mostly better than the old one so far. :)
