I think the ending may have gone exactly the same. Waking up in the 'hospital' room in New York by a nurse that wasn't Peggy. Mostly to keep Steve relaxed long enough to inform him it was nearly 70 years and then inform him Peggy's still alive. I think Peggy was watching alongside Nick Fury. Precaution and I don't think Peggy liked it one bit. And then Steve breaks out and both Peggy and Nick go after him?
I would think Peggy wants to be the nurse desperately, but she'd understand Fury's reasoning that either way it's going to be hard. Why do you think that? I do agree but I'd like to hear your thoughts!
Instinct and guts feelings are pretty good. I like your reasoning and it sounds a bit like mine. There has to be a period of adjustment for the guy, and while a welcome face would be wonderful, it's... much better to have him wake up to a stranger in the circumstances.
I do think Steve would take some time to believe it's her, but not as much as one would think.
Exactly. I think it would be a wound to his pride if Peggy saw this. And emotionally it's a boost to find a friend back from the 'dead'.
I would say Steve's usually a quick judge of character. People do consider it naive but more often than not, he's right about a person. I'd say it take a few weeks at the most before Steve fully does believe she's really Peggy.
Aww, someone is being a good person and not pirating. Good person. :D Steve really isn't. He's probably a lot more politically aware than his peers and socially aware. But he's adaptable and open minded. If he's not interested in something, he won't focus on it.
Oh, stories really aren't that easy. I suspect you could focus it on Peggy's POV. So you have to convince Peggy that Steve doesn't have doubts? Or would that be too confusing?
That's why I sometimes bounce around in my head he was probably more of a socialist when younger and kinda mellowed out as he grew older when it comes to fiscal situations. But social situations? If no one is being hurt against their will, Steve's fine. That's probably some of the things that are driving me crazy with other Steves out there, he's played up as too innocent and too much like a fish out of water.
Oh no. We don't want Peggy to cry. Unless said fic has a happy sequel. Then sad endings are okay.
Oh, I'd love to hear what she's been doing, other than grumping at Howard for getting so into weapons.
I see Steve being confused about a lot of things, but adapting fairly well once he's introduced. In my head he takes to the computer like a duck to water when someone tells him he can get news from ANYWHERE for near free. He's clever and people forget he's smart. He's not like Tony Stark smart, but Steve's got a brilliance all of his own. Everyone assumes that if you're from the 1940s, you're a lot like your grandparents or great grandparents
( ... )
And all signs in the comics show that Steve is perfectly well adjusted in modern times. The regular continuity has Steve outside of the ice for '10 years' (sliding time scale). He's rocking the technology just fine and recognizes when some things are just no good. And the comic fandom screeches when someone suggests otherwise in canon.
I really like that idea. I think I also came out of the movie as Peggy/Howard in a beta ship or a friendship that lasted through out the years. It makes me happy and sad at the same time to have Peggy see a friend become so involved with his work and not with his son.
It absolutely is. I never thought I'd actually like the interaction between Peggy so much. I think that's sweet and touching
