I can't really comment on the DW/TW episodes last week, as I barely watched them. Though, I did see the Doctor's message on the wall in "Blink". "Love, The Doctor, 1969"... My first thought was, as usual, "That tramp". Then, "1969, of course! I'm sure he'll be very happy..." And then my mind drifted to a bad Austin Powers '60's. "DOCTOR! What the hell're you doing?!" "I can't help it! It's the time! Love's got to be free, ba-- Martha!" "Damn it! Will you shag every bird on the street who isn't me? Is that your only criterion?!" "I've got other criteria!" *SMACK*
I got to around the point where she went to see that bloke in the video store, and decided there were better things I could do with my time. I listened to some of it from the other room, but Mom kept turning it to Hell's Kitchen, and I hardly had any standing to complain. I wish Gordon Ramsay had shacked up with any other network but Fox. They drag everything out with some deep-voiced announcer man narrating everything five times... "Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares" is much better, but on the other hand, that's got what, six episodes a year? Or that's the size of the batches BBCA gets...
Anyway. Torchwood. Lame. That's all I remember at the moment. Oh, and also gay, in most senses of the word. Not that I mind the Jack/Ianto. At the very least, it isn't Gwen/Jack.
So, this ten-page paper I keep bitching about? It's due next week, and while I have a topic and sources, I haven't read more than half the sources, and I'm still pretty vague as to exactly what it is we're supposed to write. After that is the last week of class, wherein everying that ever was comes due, so for the next couple weeks, I may or may not exist, and I'll probably be damn neurotic if I do show up. Papers bring that out in me.
In fact, I should be reading sources right now... except I've broken my glasses. Not too badly, just, you know, in pieces. The lenses are intact, but half the frame is beyond much hope. Well, I needed new ones anyway, and my prescription's not too finicky now I don't have the bifocals; the only thing is, it's a really strong prescription. As in, Velma-style, restriction on the driver's license, "crank the 'text size' up to largest, lean over the keyboard, and squint" strong. I keep meaning to get it in 20/x format, but somehow, I always forget and they never volunteer it.
(When I got my learner's permit, the lady said, "Why don't you check your vision to make sure? Just in case you need to drive without your glasses or something." There was a thing you leaned into, that projected something to test you-- all looked like blurry squares to me. I was trying to figure out if the first letter was maybe an A when she said, "Okay, so where's the stop sign?" So, I got the restriction. No way in hell I have any business driving without glasses, trust me...)
Finally--Sci-fi's advertising that it's got the Sarah Jane Adventures. To those who've seen it-- it's hard to predict what someone else will like, so I won't ask you that, but is it at least better than Torchwood? 'Cause I don't know if I can take it otherwise. ^^ (They keep saying "From the producers of Doctor Who" like it's a recommendation ;)
