my politics class gets on my nerves so bad. 25% of our grade is participation, but how am i supposed to say anything over the other 20 people screaming about abortion or tax cuts? i rarely have anything to say because my brain doesn't function so early, but when i do it's frustrating that i can't get credit for it because i'm drowned out by the people who just need to hear themselves talk. this guy in front of me never shuts up, but really never says anything. we were talking about the death penalty and his argument was "well what about the war?" .....WHAT ABOUT THE WAR?!?!?!?! that has nothing to do with the death penalty dumbass. then the question "should the government be able to make abortion illegal?" came up. i guess a woman should be able to what she wants with her body. i mean i would never get an abortion, but if you're into murdering your own kids, hey. but from a legal standpoint one of the main objectives of government is to protect life. wouldn't leagalizing abortion be doing the opposite? then there's the whole argument of "well when does life begin?" when the two gametes meet in the uterus and form a zygote. end of discussion. how is a fetus anymore alive alive in the third trimester than it is in the first? ALSO what the hell do i care if the government listens to my phone conversations??? ok so i have to sacrifice a little bit of privacy (which i don't think is even in the constitution) for the good of the people. why are people so upset by it? do they have something to worry about? something the government shouldn't hear?? isn't that alarming???? yes!!! what's so wrong with the government finding out about it and stopping it for our protection? i don't know. then we talked about some guy who was sentenced to 93 years in prison....FOR SELLING WEED!!!!! what??? a life sentence for a victimless "crime"? OJ killed his freakin family and went free!!! ughh. this is why i didn't go to this class the past three days. it pains me.
