Totally expensive, which is why even though I KNOW we're not going anywhere that money still 3 years later gets socked away JUST IN CASE.
Oh BTW, I wanted to show you a pic of the guy who told me that there was gonna be a new Dark Tower book. I was gonna post it on the prompt but didn't wanna spam it up with OT so:

:) :) :) Yeahhhh. I drove 8 hrs each way, got no sleep, called into work and lost money but it was absolutely, positively the most amazing thing I've ever done.
He talked to me about the Dark Tower! and commented that he liked my Tet Corporation shirt. All of this while his people were trying to push me outta the way but he kept talking. I coulda died in a exhaustion induced firey crash on the way home but it woulda been worth it because the last thing that happened was Stephen King talked to me about the Dark Tower. Gah, I love those damned books.

Ohh... you have no idea how jealous I am of you right now. Aah! The closest I ever got to Stephen King was watching an interview on tv where he talked about gardening. Or something. I don't really remember... oh you! Wow! AND he kept talking, even while his people were trying to get you to move! XD Awesome!!!
(I didn't even want to read them at first. Dunno why... but then I was at my parents' at had already read all the books they got (not really, but the interesting ones, even the one from my Mom's feminist phase - weiiird) and needed something new. So I bought the first book... and on the next day went back to the store and bought the other six. Oh, how much I love this series!!!)

I went through my folks books as a kid, too. I tried reading 'IT' when I was 10 years old, right after the tv movie came out and I remember seeing the word 'penis' in the book and being like, "Nope, I'm good.' and put the book down. Kinda ironic now. Lol.
I actually read Drawing of the Three before I read Gunslinger. My whole entire family was in two rooms at a base guesthouse. We all had the worst flu on the planet and I somehow got a hold of the book and read it twice while we couldn't move. I still like that me and Roland bonded over fevered, delirious sickness. Though thank god I hadn't lost fingers to lobstrosities. :)

Ha, my parents never owned a single Stephen King book. As soon as I turned 16, I started getting all his books from the public library, purely because it was like ~forbidden to get them if you're younger, which means it was even more exciting. ;) And then I read all books they had there, then I bought a couple more, and well... now his works are filling several shelves in my bookcases. Ahh... But I do remember being very squicked by the, erm, explicit language as well! He, ironic, yeah...
I had to check which books you meant, here in Germany all his books have a single word for the title (like It, okay, yeah, but Glass and Three and The Picture and whatever). But it was very good entertainment while you were sick, I bet! And bonding over feverish sickness, oh! I just hope you didn't get any nightmares, ergh, lobstrosities (which btw is a much better term than the German one - Monster lobsters, bah, boring :P)...

Oh, forbidden books are so freaking awesome. The thrill, the rush. :)
No nightmares that I can recall, the waking hours were def bad enough. Haha actually the whole thing was right out of a Stephen King book. Me, my brother and sister stuck in one room while my parents were in the adjoining. 5 days or so barely moving, we had the Shining going on. We were at each other's throats by the end of it.
