So... we went to go see Nate's father per his request and got some shirts from Florida. That was cool.
We chatted and shit, went home... waited for everyone to get ready so we could follow them to Kathy's house to the cookout.
We got there, greeted everyone and went to the food. At first, no burgers were available, so we had hotdogs and other stuff, grabbed some Brisk Iced Teas and chillaxed.
I didn't really know anyone other than Kathy and her husband, Chris, so I pretty much stuck with Nate and his brother and mom for the most part. We ate, joked around, talked and eventually it looked like rain. We heard thunder and saw that the leaves of nearby trees were folding down and about ten minutes later, a sudden downpour.
Everyone basically huddled under the little party tent-y things and such until it let up. We heard from Kathy that it was okay to go in the house if we wanted, so Nate, Josh and I did just that.
We hung out inside for a bit, sipping sodas and stuff until it stopped raining entirely. By now, we'd been there about an hour or so and were bored from lack of people to interact with and things to do and since few chairs had been left vacant, my feet were getting tired and sore from standing around.
So, we opted to leave. We went out into the driveway where Pat and Paul were talking to Chris about his new truck and Nate alerted me to the presence of a tiny baby jumping spider on the side of the truck.
Now, I'm arachnophobic, but for some reason, I have no fear or hatred for jumping spiders. I think they're cute and lovable, honestly. So I prodded the spider gently with my fingernails until it jumped onto my finger. There, it simply walked around, looking at me, Nate and Josh, respectively. I let it sit there and wander my hand until we felt it was time to get going and Nate lightly flicked it off of me, which I wasn't too happy about.
Anyhow, we told everyone we were off and said bye to Kathy and loaded up into Nate's car to drive home.
On the way, I spotted something small and black in the road and Nate moved to the side to avoid running over a little box turtle.
I wanted to stop and move it off the road, but someone was behind us... fortunately, though, that person pulled off the road to get out and save the turtle, so all was well. Anyhow, we dropped Josh at the house, went down the road to get me a coffee, and came home to spy a small juvenile rabbit in the lawn. Nate crept toward it just to see how close he could get and got about 7-10 feet from it. It was so comfortable with his presence, it actually started nibbling clovers in the grass before some random stranger jogged by mumbling to himself and scared the bunny away.
By then, mosquitoes were coming out in swarms so we retired into the house.
The rain wasn't done yet, though. Within in a half an hour, another, stronger downpour erupted, lasting roughly 25 minutes before subsiding, eventually revealing absolutely cloudless skies. Go figure.
EDIT: Oh yeah. Teensy friends cut. Nothing personal, just cutting off the loose ends.
