A little jewel on the fourth of July.

Fourth of July. Does this day of independence have any REAL meaning anymore? Or is it just an excuse to burn things, get drunk and act a fool? Ehh, that's not too bad, really. Festivities are festivities, right?

Or, in the case of some non-Americans, is it just an excuse to seem clever and intellectual by trying to give, amongst others, Americans a history lesson and enlightenment on the degenerated state of their own country?

In the case of the latter, please don't. Not to me. Not to Nate. He and I are more American than most, but we probably wish more than most of our domestic kin for change... for a complete reform of this antiquated and so easily perverted system. We love our country, but not our government. We know what's wrong with it and we're not proud of the fact it's gone so far down the spiral of decay. I can honestly say that my Native American ancestors and Nate's ancestor, John Adams, would not be pleased with how their homeland has fallen.

The last thing we need is someone trying to rub it in, especially not on the fourth of July. Thanks.
