Americans are too rich, too dumb and have too much time on their hands

I don't like PETA as it is. It's a fraud of an organization and their goals are idiotic wastes of time. THIS? Going too far. You can't rewrite Romeo & Juliet just because you don't like the ending. You also can't just change the way languages work. And you can't make Americans think that there should be some priority in "saving" the animals when we ( Read more... )

HAHAHAHAHA!

Okay, so, I do believe unnecessary cruelty to animals is abhorrent... and I'd like to be able to transition to vegetarianism and, eventually, veganism (for several reasons, health and religious ethics being at the top), but... this is getting ridiculous!

Many people in the vegan community loathe PETA and everything they do, and some of them would probably be all *point and laugh* at this article as well.

They don't really help ALL the animals, just the cute ones, and the baby ones, and the ones we like to have as pets. I commend people who are vegetarian or vegan for principal but PETA isn't making that any better. They're just not really helping anyone.

They really aren't helping anyone, also, it's been rumoured that their founder actually pockets most of the money donated to them.

Some ethical vegetarians and vegans are choosing this lifestyle for environmental reasons and also because apparently there is a logic of being able to feed more people with the grain and soy fed to livestock than feeding people by slaughtering said livestock. Now, that's where that lifestyle theoretically comes into play when it comes to helping fellow humans.

And, hey, humans are animals too. Don't we deserve to be treated humanely too? I don't see PETA stepping in to help the victims of the Sendai Earthquake.

Yeah, the humans aren't even part of their equation.

I've also heard that they euthanize an absurd amount of animals that aren't re-homed. Um, ethical? THEY can kill thousands of animals?!
