I have said and still believe that it is possible to have the right relationship at the wrong time in your life. It may mean something slightly different to different people, but the basic idea is the same: you date someone who is a good fit for your personality but the relationship doesn't work. This doesn't apply to all cases. Obviously not cases of abuse, neglect, or any type of mistreatment. However, there are times when good people come along but circumstances aren't right. It's like going to the zoo on a rainy day. It doesn't make the zoo a bad place to go to, just not a good day. When I wrote about
finding the one, one thing that I mentioned (and I referenced from another article) is that one very important part of finding the one is being ready for them to come along. In a sense, it means "checking out emotional weather forecast" before searching. Knowing "The One" and having the right relationship are two different things.
In some respect, I believe that there are multiple "Ones" out there in the world, but they are not always at our present place. Traveling often makes that apparent, but most of us are not out traversing the world and definitely not climbing remote mountain peaks looking for our "media naranja" (I like this Spanish phrase for "other half"). Most of us are existing in a close knit group of friends and co-workers and often come across special people in these environments. But if the timing is not right, are these people passing us by?
It's raining outside. I didn't go out. While the world keeps turning while I sit inside, I know that today is not right for me.
