I wish I could say that things are getting better, but I guess they are just getting easier. It's a little less of a weight on my mind from day to day.

Friday was one of the best days I'd had in a while. I was out of the office! I had a few schools to visit and set up and they were laid out in such a way that I got to spend all but my first hour and a half out of the office.
I took a quiet drive down Lafitte Larose highway and just as I rolled into Lafitte, "Belated Promise Ring" by Iron and Wine came on and everything just fell into place. I had to roll my window and stick my arm out into the wind. As much as I hated the movie, it felt like a scene from Elizabethtown (and I only say that because the music in that movie was good). No rain, no worries, free day. It was a nice day to have after the last month that I'd been struggling through.
While I was at the school, I noticed that they had typed signs above the all of the secretaries' desks and one of the signs said "YOUR LACK OF PREPARATION DOES NOT CONSTITUTE AN EMERGENCY FOR ME". I wanted to rip it from the wall and put it over my desk. In reality, though, it and the other signs were highly passive agressive and that's not what I'm going for.

Friday night, Von, Amanda, Chrissy and I went to Port of Call for Von's birthday. I brought my own bacon bits. Chrissy scoffed at us for it, but when she saw those hyper-red BaCos on her potato, she quickly understood. Let it be known; I can NOT drink a monsoon AND eat PoC. One or the other. I was too full to really get drunk or enjoy the earlier part of the night. I was a lot better by the time we walked to Attiki, but it took walking all the way!

Saturday was Von's surprise 30th birthday party at Chuck E Cheese's. It was also William's first birthday party and it was exciting. I will not discuss details because Chuck E. Cheese's can eat my butt, but we had fun hanging out. I think I want some cheese pizza.

Every day brings me a new challenge and I hope I am making some strides. Some people want to know what's going on at work, or with my boss, or with my title, and I have no answer. I do not seek one, either. I just want to get through my work day and continue to make MY life a little better. Everyone else can crash and burn and I do not care. I have to be satisfied with my winnings at the end of this game.
Some mornings, though, I really wish I was drunk at work.
