Last night Fullmetal Alchemist was on TV. It was the episode with Barry the Chopper, and when he kidnaps Winry, then tries to kill her and Edward.
Seeing how terrifed the two were, it was one heart-pounding episode, and it was this episode that made me realized, how profoundly affected I am by the main characters's psychological states.
The episode with Nina.....understanding Edward's grief when Nina died, it was no different from when he and Alphonse has lost their mother. I swear that episode (in the manga, too), left me traumatized.
Then this episode with Barry the Chopper. Edward and Winry fearing for their lives by the insane Barry, and Edward almost would have killed him if Alphonse hadn't stopped him.
Worse, what if he did kill him?
And Barry himself. It started out from a fight with his wife, then he killed her. That's what fueled his desire to butcher humans. Why? Because he simply enjoys it. He doesn't seem as worse as what Shou Tucker did, though.
Speaking as a psychology major, FMA really makes me think about the characters and what they mentally go through.
It's so depressing.
