This post comes to you directly from sweltering Toronto, ON. That's right. I go to Canada on the one week of the year when it is guaranteed to be 90 degrees F for most of my visit.
But none of that matters, because I am having fun. I drove up today with a bunch of other HP fans in an overstuffed minivan. On the way, we stopped to see Niagara Falls, which was breathtaking. I had not been there for nearly ten years, and it was rather foggy on my last visit. Today was clear and bright and the falls cast rainbows everywhere and the spray was cool and refreshing and the air was full of the good ions. Aaaahhhhh!!!
Also, when we used a public restroom just over the border, a sign in each stall admonished us, "Do not throw foreign objects in toilet." But all I've got are foreign objects; I just crossed the border. Sheesh. Also when I crossed the border, my cell phone became unable to detect any signal whatsoever. This is bizarre, because a fellow traveler with the same service provider has been happily callin gand texting since our arrival. Ugh.
Now we are full of yummy Thai food and settling in for the night at the home of a local fandom friend. Tomorrow we head off to register at Prophecy, a convention of Harry Potter fans in a downtown hotel. I hope it is not too hot to wear my costumes. Otherwise I shall have lugged The Mother of All Suitcases in vain.
I probably won't be around online much for the rest of the week. I promise lots of pix of sweaty fans when I am back in business next week.
