this is a somewhat touchy subject. I don't think the same way most republicans do on the issue.

My initial thought is to allow the parents the satisfaction of taking care of their daughter. Michael, the husband has moved on, and if he's holding out for money that he will receive upon her death, he's already spent more than half of it on lawyer fees...so it's really pointless now. If it is not going to cost the state anything to keep this person in a vegetative state, and it will allow the parents to being satisfied, why not grant this?

But, since that is obviously not going to happen any time soon, i believe at this point it would be best for her to pass. I'm not saying that she should suffer through dehydration, but compare her current state to the way she was. Would anyone THAT active honestly want to spend 12 years in a vegetative state? probably not. I don't believe that pulling the tube and causing her to starve/dehydrate is the right decision.

Furthermore, I blieve that the courts should grant that she have a swallow test done. If she is capable of swallowing at this point, why not give her water? it won't be coming through a tube. we don't make people who can't get up and get their own water die of thirst, why should we allow this of her?

It's a touchy subject, one that I am glad I'm not involved with.

oh yeah, and david ryan harris does kick ass.
