The last Saturday, when I met
Sparkyman ,
Fresisui ,
Leviosa8 ,
Loremaula , Morice and J.J., as usual... we agreed to go to other place than the usual ones on Saturday night. Since the previus Saturday, when we go to the Japanese Restaurant, we saw several interesting places, we decided to test some of those...
Leviosa8 infected us with her "Murphy's Laws" karma, and when we reached the place, it happened to be... closed! Incredible, a night bar was closed at Saturday night!
Therefore, we had to look for a new bar when spending our Saturday night, and we walked around Argüelles Distric for a while till we headed towards certain coffie-shop and restaurant called "Galaxia" than it's very closer to Moncloa, where we spent the rest of the night till the waiters threw us out.
(Saturday night on 1981)
At first, you could think there wasn't nothing odd here, but there is.
On the next day, I found out that coffie-shop, "Galaxia" has an history: it's the place where the Colonel Tejero and general Millan de Bosch planned the
coup d'etat of 23th February of 1981 in Spain! And, in the same sites where we were seated, the places at the back of the shop!
Such irony of that! I was very young when it happened, so I barely remember anything, except when Tejeron invaded the Congress of Deputies and began to shoot his pistols, and the politicians hidded themselves behind their benches, except for Adolfo Suarez and Santiago Carrillo who kept on their places (for foreing people, those names are aliens, but they were very important at that time)
Still, many people who lived at that time, still remembering that, and when I talk about the matter whith them, they say they remember their parents being afraid about what was going to happen, or they were surprised because their elders cried. That isn't something, fortunately, you see every day in Spain.
That night we dinned on a coffie-shop than might had changed the history of Spain.
Since on Thusday evening, my right shoulder and neck aches baddly because a bad posture; my neck's vertebrae are moved and that makes my joins don't work right. Therefore, yesterday I didn't go to work since I barely could type anything, and I couln't turn my head on right side. I'm healing it with massages, in order to relaxing the muscles, but I'll have to go the physiotherapist in order to get back my bones to the right place *sigh*
Anyway, as I couldn't do anything, I spent the afternoon wathching TV. Usualy, I don't do such thing because TV is getting worse every day (4 millions of "Big Brothers" fans! How much imbecile there are!)
My bro asked me who were the Phoenicians... I told him they were the accident inhabitants of Libano, they created a commercial Empire in the Mediterranean Sea, and they gave a name to our country: I-Shaphan-Im, that become into "Hispania" by Romans, and later España (or Spain in English)
I-Shaphan-Im means "The Land of Rabbits" because obvius reasons. That's the meaning of the name of my country.
But I found out a lot of interesting things than only that. Besides the politic confrontations with the new Roman Empire, the whole King Annibal's rebellion and his quest with elephants on Alpes Mountains, etc, etc...
I learned how many things we got from them: they had the Mediterranean techinicle for capturing Red Tunas, the one than Spanish fishermen still using; the created the Serum, that thing than accident Roman amphoras is filled of... But what I found more amazing was the folk culture the left on certain Mediterranean Islands, mainly on Ibiza.
Ibiza bellongs to Balearic Islands along Mayorca, Menorca and Formentera... One of those cursed places where hunders of foreing tourist spend their holydays getting drunk, geting red, geting dopping, wasting money, etc, etc...
Ibiza is the only place on the Word where accident Phoenicians' folk songs still being sung by the shepherds; I listened them and they're really odd, they make "clicks" like Bushmem (sp?) of Kalahari Desert! I also watched their traditional costumes, even weding costumes.. and they were awful similar to those iberic statues, like "
Dama de Elche" (Elches' Dam) bust statue wears.
I feel sorry for that; it's just like the Accident Dalmacian People, they're closer to disapear after more than 2000 years because tourists and others.
But I also found amazing they could reach Azores Islands, and the West coast of Africa... The same traject than Portuguesse Empire did in XV-Century. Aparentely, they found out somebody was there previusly, but Roman Empire and Proguesse Empire destroyed the proofs.
All those things make me to think...
When on 1998 I was on Italy, I spent 3 days on Roma. In spite Spanish and Italian people were very closer, and we both are latinish (I don't mean from Southamerica, that's different) I felt amazed by Roma's air, I could feel how old was that city, it's more than 2000 years not 500 as Madrid is. I almost could feel how many things happened there.
Those things make people of any country has an identity, the feel all generations than lived there previusly, and how many things they did.
But I sorry for the history of Spain, before Greek colonitation, and Roman Empire, also was Phoenician. And I feel sorry than other countries feel proud of their history, and try to use it for their own benefit... but Spanish people is just stupid, they tried to find out differences between every region in order to be independent from others and not using it.
And out stupid governments only help to that.
Wonderful...
