Two good things today:
I went for an interview type thing for a part-time caregiver position for a legally blind and deaf woman. It was interesting. The woman and her helper were both surprised and happy that I knew sign language and I think that will help me be considered for the job. It was cool...Definitely much different from the restaurant industry that's for sure. I just hung out for 1 1/2 hours at her sunny, funky cabin with her two enormous hairy slobbery dogs and listened/watched her talk/sign about learning Polish and German and Czech and pot growers and fruit trees. I have no idea if I'll get the job, but it was a great experience!
Then I looked at this house that has a $450 room available and it went so swimmingly I want to pinch myself! Dear God, it was so easy. The guy, Ethan, was mellower than mellow. I felt really at ease talking to him about musical theater, meth addicts, drumming, cherry pie, and biking. I said I would take the place if he offered it to me, and he said I'm in a small group of people who actually seem steady enough to live with. And apparently the other guy living there is way chilled out and has good references and stuff. It's got a nice kitchen, compost pile, and garden space, and a garage to sing in, so things look hopeful.
Whee!
change,
courage,
job,
moving
