So. I'm taking this half an hour that it's gonna take me to write this post because I will NEVER have time in the week to come.
*coughs* So.
Thursday - Sunday
Thursday last week I went to see As I Lay Dying (yes, metal. Very very much metal. Complete with long hair, sweat and tattoos of... pointy things. Erm.) together with a friend who also happens to be a colleague.
We went there on our way to Kitzbühel. Almost our entire company had a 'skiing weekend' there. People from the Munich and Cologne office were there as well.
Anyway. Concert. AWESOME \o/ METAL WINS AT LIFE SO HARD!
We met up with another friend of mine at the concert hall and found a place to stand on the balcony above the crowd. It was such a fabulous view!!! Watching everyone headbanging and moshing away like mad! It looked like a huge, frantic bee hive!
And, OMG, WALL OF DEATH! The supporting band was a band from Germany called Neara. They were absolutely lovely! (Which is a term I shouldn't be using in connection with any of them, I guess BUT IT ARE TRU *nods*) They made the crowd part and then do one of the most impressive walls of death I have ever seen. Seriously, when they parted the hall was EMPTY in the middle. All the way from the stage to the technics at the back.
And then they crashed into each other like a huge tidal wave. I think my colleague even filmed it. It looked SO amazing!
Though, I still have no idea how one could consider being IN one of those fun *shrugs* But it's certainly fun to watch.
And the circle pit was most impressive too! The circle ranged almost all the way to either side of the hall.
It was fantastic \o/ As I Lay Dying played ALL MY FAVOURITE SONGS! YAY! And I really did enjoy Neara too. So much so that I bought myself a t-shirt afterwards *g*
Yay. New black t-shirt. Because I don't have enough of those already...
Oh! My colleague took the train to Kitzbühel at 1:46am because he's apparently totally crazy and didn't want to miss out on half a day of skiing 0_o
BUT I went to the station with him and we made HILARIOUS pictures in one of those photo booths! \o/
~~~
Well, I stayed at Silvia's place for the night and then joined the others on the train to Kitzbühel.
See, Kitzbühel is something of a Mekka for skiing in Austria. It's also very posh and expensive and during the skiing season I guess you can meet all kinds of famous folk there.
The problem is: I DON'T SKI. In fact, I hate winter and I hate snow and I absolutely DETEST cold.
But I thought a bit of socializing with the other offices wouldn't hurt and so I went along. It was indeed nice to meet all these people but there were 70 of them and it was just a bit too much at times.
My room mate was a very nice girl who is going to start at the Munich office in May. Fortunately, she didn't feel like skiing either and so we went for a very nice walk on Saturday. The scenerey was magnificent, though. We hiked around a lake that was black as the night, I swear. And everything's surrounded by snow-covered mountains and forests.
Actually, it looks like Canada.
Erm.
I did take a few pictures but they're on my mobile phone and my PC at work doesn't have bluetooth, I think.
However, there was a party on Friday and Saturday evening. At a disco. But I never stayed long because all the smoke soon made my eyes all teary and I could hardly see anything at all and the music was very electro. And I wasn't even nearly drunk enough to find that funny.
See, I found out that I there are certain people who I like to go out with. Who I like to get drunk with and stuff. And then there are people who are nice - no doubt - but I just can't get drunk with as well as with those others.
I need my usual 'gang' in order to go crazy. Which is awesome and sad at the same time. Because without them no party is really a party for me :(
Speaking of which: THERE WILL BE PARTY THIS WEEKEND!!!
On Friday we're gonna see our friends of Naca7 play live again for the first time in god knows how long. TOO LONG!
And I'll have lots of lovely people around me and I have no doubt that the evening will be very... erm... liquid. Because, hey, NACA7 FTW!
Also, I had lunch with their bassist this week because he works nearby and it was a lot fun! Though, I do understand why some people might have difficulties getting along with him. It's hard to tell sometimes if he's making a joke or if he's being serious. The best way to handle him is the good old 'mit Schmäh nehmen' - counter with a joke of your own. He's also sarcastic, which I love :)
And on Saturday Ve and I will be off to a small town somewhere in the back of beyond, taking upon us a two hour drive to see the fledglings again! \o/
CAN'T WAIT! IT IS SO PATHETIC! I KNOW!
I've only seen them two weeks ago. BUT THIS IS TOO LONG!
My life will be very un-fluffy the next five weeks or so. Because it's about that long until we see them again - well, at least live. You never know when one of them will turn up at another concert. That's also a point that I love about them. They also GO to concerts. They actually like to see other bands live. And they PAY for their tickets :D
And then next week is going to be the WEEK OF DOOM, because:
Monday, 14 April - Coheed & Cambria
Tuesday, 15 April - Strung Out, Ignite
Thursday, 17 April - Emil Bulls (OMG! FINALLY! IT'S BEEN WAY TOO LONG, BOYS)
Saturday, 19 April - Jonas Goldbaum (which is not really the band we intended to see but the original band - Emil Bulls - cancelled and we already have tickets, so...)
And then I guess I'm gonna fall into my bed and sleep for an entire DAY.
People, I wish you all the best for this weekend and the next week! See ya!
