Canon history:
Here. AU history: Things went well as Kida had warmed up to her new..well, position as Queen of Atlantis. Though, after Milo's departure to the surface, the birth rite didn't seem as appealing. She was pondering ways to communicate with him, but only got so far before she had received her own letter. Not to teach, but to learn. And she concluded, to make Atlantis better, she'd learn more about the new technology and, well, the basics of the surface world.
Personality: Kida is free-spirited and playful. She has manners, but sometimes her curiosity will get the best of her. She's eager to learn and although the Queen of Atlantis, she's willing to learn just about anything to become a great ruler. After hearing of the Black Mist that could envelope the world she lives in, she set her mind to finding a way to stop it.
Raised to be a great warrior, defending Atlantis instilled beliefs that she was not the only person out there, and the world did not revolve around her. Casting off her selfishness as Atlantis weakened, Kida became more aware of her surroundings. Not only did being a warrior make her worldly, she is also very capable, flexible, strong and skillful. She likes to climb, and much like a cat, be in high places to observe the bigger picture.
She has many quirks and habits that to some people, may seem a little odd, but are nothing but normal to her. Being barefoot all her life is one of those habits. Like Esmeralda, she just finds them uncomfortable, and doesn't see the use for them. When anxious, nervous, or excited, she tends to bite her lower lip.
Greatest Fear: Kida's greatest fear is that of losing her people, or being helpless, which just may become true if the Black Mist invasion continues. She fears the Mist will swallow her home up while she's gone, so don't be surprised that if it does, she'll want to go back.
❦ Writing
Third person writing sample: There was so much to see, but Kida could not find a place she could perch herself on as to get a larger view. The campus was such a wide spaced area, there was too much to see in such little time. A large, silver building caught her eye.
Perfect.
It was just easy enough to climb up on, but the material it was made out of wasn't too kind to Kida's feet. Or any of her exposed skin for that matter. The music hall's confusing roof was hot! She continued her attempts to climb higher, as high as she could, but only got as high as the lowest spire. It didn't matter, she could still see over most of the campus. Her feet burned, but the breeze caught her hair as she surveyed the campus. Not too many people walking around, but, that could just be because school wasn't in session. That reminded her, she needed to find her communicator thing, dubbed the talking box. Because that's what you did with it. You talked. If anything, it was lost somewhere in her neglected dorm room, which her roommate had probably cluttered with their own stuff. She didn't pay much mind to it either, the talking box was confusing, has too many buttons, and at most times, just chatty, and full of noise.
She wondered when classes would start.
It said somewhere on her calendar, but she never really got around to checking it. Too many places to explore. But what about this Black Mist business, she thought. She wasn't allowed to adventure outside of school grounds because of it. It felt like being in a cage. Though Kida came to the resolution, it was better to be in a cage than out and clueless in the open. That, and she was doing this for her people. The Queen would have to keep her independence in check, the last thing she wanted to do was get kicked out and sent back home with nothing to give Atlantis. The mere thought scared her. And yet, in this great opportunity to great priceless knowledge, Kida couldn't help but feel homesick. Her building-climbing escapades reminded her of venturing with Milo. Home was a long ways away.
But this was no time to be mopey. Her feet were on fire, so she slid down back onto the much cooler concrete in the shade.
First person writing sample: This place may be strange, but the people here are even stranger.
There is of course, Milo and Miss Helga, and Audrey too, but there is also a large cat that speaks. The gymnasium teacher, his head is on fire and yet, it does not burn him. Another teacher has a metal tool for a hand and another is reminiscent of an ancient, extinct land creature called a dinosaur! How Milo can teach here, I may never understand. I will have much to learn, but hopefully, enough free time to make friends...thirteen classes is enough for one person, is it not? Do I need any more?
